It's intentional. If he simply kept his head down and then lost straight up he wouldn't have any excuses for the L.

Instead he creates a circus and then blames the circus for the loss.

It's all about protecting his own ego.

What exactly was intentional about the point penalty?

You never get warnings for muttering to a crowd member.

Don’t often agree with Kyrgios but Bernardes seemed to be power tripping there. Umpires are there to keep track of points and disturb the tennis match as little as possible. Bernardes forced his way into the match and apparently wanted to play the lead role.

No, even the commentators said he was incredibly patient with Nick. Bernardes is a pro, and Nick was abusing officials.

Nah, Bernardes had actually been very lenient to that point. Kyrgios had already repeatedly insulted him right to his face, for fairly trivial reasons, and he let it go. But he just would not stop. On and on and on, constant muttering and cursing, like a broken radio. I could swear he was even yapping during play a few times. The guy is an utter disgrace, and he needs to be out of the tour. And the "hey, it gets people watching" excuse just does not hold. If you used 10 naked Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders as ballgirls, even more people would watch. But it still wouldn't be right. I know the game has changed a lot since the days of Tilden and Suzanne Lenglen, but it's still tennis, and this guy murders the spirit of the sport nearly every single time he steps on the court.

Sinner didn’t even glance at Kyrgios when he was smashing his racquet close by him during the changeover. Thinkin do what you gotta do clown I’m winning this.

.

Are you saying the umpire should just sit there like a stooge when a player is insulting him in every possible way?

Are we gonna adress the actual situation? We don‘t even know what Nick said. It must have been very harmless when no one but Bernardes reacted.

Yes, he should take a ****ing step back and let Nick vent.

Didn't watch, so can't comment but
.

It started earlier.

NK was upset even before the match started because Kokki got the stadium and he didn't.

NK started complaining about the slowness of the court on grandstand.

NK failed to convert BPs in two early games.

Sinner moved NK left and right. There was no easy way out of it for NK.

NK's blabbering and shaking head intensified.

NK started complaining about crowd noise, music.

During Sinner's 1st serve later in the set, umpire's walkie-talkie made noise. Point was replayed.

NK smashed racquet during change of sides. Got a warning.

Later in the TB, NK was down a mini break and he got a point penalty for unsportsmanlike behavior (talked to the crowd and called umpire a c@nt)...

Rest of the tweet.

Sinner won.

Nick called umpire a fcking ret@rd. Left.

More to come after press conference.
