Neither of them played all that great. Congrats to Hubie! But he will lose to Carlos in the semi! (;

Year-end-#1 looks very easy for Nadal now, Medvedev not cashing-in, and Djokovic nowhere to be seen....

Good for Hubi I guess, but more importantly this match gives me a lot of confidence regarding Alcaraz's chances. It would be quite perfect timing to snatch his first M1000 titles, and the level of the remaining players is begging for it
I always get nervous, of course, but I do expect Carlos to win tonight and then to win the semi and then the final!!!! (: (: (: (:

Congratulations HH. Nothing in the Polish climate or genes prepares you for this sort of weather, and yet...

That's why he lives in Florida

The Incredible Hurk is ready.

If Alcaraz makes it. He needs to watch out. Sinner, Zverev, and Medvedev were all favorites in their matches. So's Alcaraz.
All he needs to do his play his best tennis and he will be fine. I have looked at his stats for his 2022 matches and he does great with similarly ranked and lower ranked players consistently - it's only much higher ranked players that give him any trouble - in the 17 matches he has played this year.

Yeah, it's true that anything can happen but it'd be a shame for such an opportunity to go to waste. Tbh there's not a lot in Kecmanovic's game that can seriously trouble Alcaraz barring a poor performance

Meddy Meddy... If you can't keep up while your rival for number 1 is chilling on the couch, how do you expect to get the better of him when he gets back on the court?

Oh well. I'd be pretty happy with a Ruud Alcaraz final as well.

TBH, I think Medvedev peaked. Same with whatshisface and the other one.
FAA and friends are going to take over. And HH, of course.

But at the slams FAA and HH have no chance, its all Nadal and Djokovic for the foreseeable future, and Medvedev at the hardcourt slams occasionally (he's made the last 2 slam finals, and won the US Open Final in straight sets, and very nearly won the AO Final in straight sets too).

Yeah I agree with your first point.
I'm talking more 2024.
But I think Medvedev is done.

Hurk is from Wrocław, the warmest city in Poland. It can reach 100 F during the summer, which is the wettest season of their calendar. But, as alluded to by @Aabye5 , he does well in FL (two titles last year) because he uses the warm weather for his off-season training with Saddlebrook veteran coach Craig Boynton.

Next Gen have terrible stamina.
Another hateful and inaccurate statement from our nattering nabob of negativitism.

It was only two months ago when NextGen Berrettini outlasted NextNextGen Alcaraz 10-5 in the decisive 5th set STB in a shade under 4 hours. Played in AO afternoon conditions. Is your memory that bad? Maybe you can check out some Prevagen?

I don’t know what drives you to be so wildly inaccurate with these shade storms of you but I like it! It feels good to correct the Hate that so readily flows.

I prefer to look at the more important matches that Tsitsipas and Medvedev lost against their much older opponents despite being 2-0 up on both occasions.
