This one looked like a potentially interesting match. World number 2 against Murray. Medvedev not been doing so well lately. That Australian Open final, the beatdown by The Nadal at Acapulco and the special operation appear to have affected him mentally in a bad way. Although Murray's had quite a few early losses recently himself.

H2H is 1-0 to Medvedev. How do you think this match will go?

Murray normally fades fast in round 2… Although the match today wasn’t as taxing as some of his recent first rounds.

Metallic Murray for the upset, Medvedev is going through the slam loss blues like Murray did all those years ago when your head isn't in the game.

Murray to prove that even when crippled he‘s superior to the best of the #NextGen. C’mon Muzz.

Delbonis has been a consistent presence on the tour for years and is inside the top40. Good win for Murray, just routined him...
The first set was far from routine. Until the TB, Muzziah made zero inroads on perhaps the worst serve in ATP history. It was totally on serve with zero BPs or even a deuce in the first set to 4-5 in the TB before Delbonis caved.

Medvedev is in a funk that Muzz could have benefited from more on IW’s slower surface. I think the top seed got a nice break by losing 3R there to Le Professeur, giving a few extra days to unwind and get back on the horse. He is fully recharged and will dictate with his pace being too much for achy breaky Andy to handle.

Medvedev in 2.

I’m conditioned to Murray losing in round 2 now. Apart from which, he’s playing Medvedev, so no chance he will break the habit now.

It’s been windy and not very pleasant tennis in Miami this week. If this one has big winds, Murray has a chance. If it’s clear sky and sunny, probably not, but Murray still can make this interesting.

Biggest mismatch on the tour.
Medvedev is everything Murray wishes he could be.

I made a thread in the General Pro Player Discussion subforum asking who would win in a match between peak Medvedev and peak Murray (hard court, best of 5 sets) and the overwhelming majority voted Murray. I'm guessing this hip injury has made him significantly worse to the point where Medvedev will beat him very easily?

Peak Murray was definitely a better player.

I would say Murray has a chance. The russian players (especially Rublev and Medvedev), are definitely rattled by what's going on in their home country. It's certainly possible that they are under performing to avoid being in the final trophy ceremony. At indian wells, Medvedev was clearly under performing and Rublev looked terrible today in miami. Don't be surprised if Medvedev goes out early in Miami.

I woke up thinking Andeh might actually be able to take Medvedev. It’s still a long shot wins due to stamina and serve issues, but if he stays focused he could easily take a set and more from our supposed world #1.

Murray is on a hiding to nothing trying to out-hit Medvedev from the back of the court. He needs to do something different.
