He doesn't need to be or beat top guys. He can just play to play. It's his choice. I still think he can break into the top 50 and maintain his status as a tour regular. Top 20 is probably not in the cards, though.

I guess I just don’t get why Andy, having been at the top of the game, can still enjoy competing in tennis where he’s repeatedly failing to progress in any ATP tournaments. He’s 34, it isn’t going to get better, only worse. It’s not as if he needs the money.
I will always love what he achieved and am super proud of him but feel sad that his career was ruined by his hip injury. I also admire his fighting spirit to get back to tour level play.
But I don’t enjoy watching him now. It just feels desperate and he’s worth more than that.
