2022 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic - San Jose (WTA500)

How does a pro tennis player serve up a 52 mph serve?! Her serve is horrendous, wouldn’t she take off a couple of months and work on getting a real serve?

SR psyched herself out after winning the 1st set. SHE left the court for 10 minutes, came back and laid an egg. Well… a breadstick to be precise.

Yup - I mean, doesn't she even know the basics? You ONLY take a toilet break after LOSING a set.

Looks like the monkey is there to stay. She's been playing great, but apparently doesn't have the stuff to win a WTA final.

Yay! Kasatkina wins San Jose! I'm not quite sure what changes Kasatkina has made to be playing so much better recently. She may have cut down on her unforced errors, but her second serve is still quite slow and weak.

Her strokes are the same but she plays more consistently and looks smarter and adapts/exploits her opponents better.

Kasatkina did not have an easy draw: Rybakina, Townsend (who is not usually very good but has been playing better recently), Sabalenka, Badosa, and Rogers (not consistent, but a very dangerous opponent).
