I dont doubt hes feeling pain, but its incredible how it can just appear from one game to the next. And after breaking serve.

Wow his body must hate him. Like 20 years on tour but it couldn't just do him a solid and hold out for another hour or so?

Tsonga has barely played tennis the last few years and now all of sudden having to play over 3 hours is brutal. His body doesn't allow this anymore.

Terrible shame his shoulder has given up.

This is why he's retiring, his body is done and he has a family now. I will miss him though, he is one of Tennis' great gentlemen.

Yeah he’s done.

In a way though much better for this to happen now than the first game of the 5th set, at least he goes out in a TB rather than the prolonged 6 games of agony.

Too bad that his shoulder hurts him at this very moment :( Utmost respect to him. Have a nice retirement with your family!

Tsonga was mainstay for so many years; and we're at the moment where he's done with pro tennis. Glad he got to battle at RG as a sendoff. Kudos JWT on a great career, and props to Ruud for dealing with a French crowd that had above-and-beyond reasons to side with the home player.

Won't lie, think many players would have done some other things in a tiebreak for an injured player who had no chance like Tsonga but Ruud didn't, perhaps but that's for another day, Just my opinion.

Game, set, match -- Ruud.

Standing ovation for the magnificent Joltin' Jo...the way it ended is the story of his career.

Yeah, I felt the same. Tough situation to be sure, you don’t want to just go pattycake, but surely he didn’t have to hit to his FH so much and could have given Tsonga a putaway so he could win a point.

Idk, maybe it’s more respectful to just play well normally.

Aaw, this is sad. It's time, Jo. Go enjoy your wife and sons and post-tennis life. Hope to see you in the booth or in the stands in the future.

Yeah I guess its tennis at the end of the day but it was just ugly to watch. Either way, I think most people will agree Tsonga will have a better career than Ruud ever will...
