FAA will play in Monte Carlo, after all...

Still, after FAA's dreadful run in Marrakech, I'll stick with my early pick of Jannik Sinner.

Novak is a huge question mark.

Might show up in a beast mode, but might be very underwhelming due to the lack of match play (plus MC was not his forte for quite a while).

Tsitsipas, Alcaraz, FAA, and Ruud could all hope to go far, I think...

It will be an interesting tournament.

Same, going with Sinner I don’t know why. I just can’t see him missing out a M1000 this year

I have no hope for FAA on these slow surfaces.

The 2 players I dislike the most - Alcaraz and Djokovic - are in this draw, and that is a good result for me, because at least one of them will lose (y)

I see no one has hopes for Rublev.

If I were to list favorites, it would look a bit like:

Djokovic....Alcaraz..Zverev....Tsitsipas...Sinner..Garin....Fritz

and somewhere near the very end of this list: FAA..........Rublev.

Edit: in fairness, anyone who can take out Rafa, even an out-of-sorts Rafa, on clay deserves some respect.

We really need a Korda vs Alcaraz match on clay ✅
We also need a Alcaraz vs Djokovic match on clay ✅
A Sinner vs Coric match would be great ✅
An FAA vs Musetti match is the tennis we deserve ✅

Thanks Tennis.

Tsitsipas is the defending champion and a better player on clay than Zverev, (if we don't count Madrid, which is a different tournament than the others on this surface), and the best example of that was their matchup in the RG semi-finals last year.
Furthermore, Monte Carlo is the only major clay tournament where the German has not even played in the semifinals.
In this tournament, at least, the Greek is the favorite of the two.

Who creates these draws? And why does Ruud always get a great section.

Is it because he's nice or because he's with IMG?

If Tsitsipas finds his 2021 clay form, I agree. Still, his 2022 has not been smooth sailing.

Outstanding draw if you dislike Alcaraz/Djokovic as much as I do, at least one of them won't make the SF :D
Don’t believe in Korda to defeat the inferior Alcaraz in the 2nd round? Some fan you are.
When you dislike a player, you fear the Worst Case Scenario.
What is the Worst Case Scenario? Alcaraz beats Korda.
And what is the solution to that Worst Case Scenario? Djokovic beats Alcaraz, or Alcaraz beats Djokovic..... because I dislike them both equally.
So if Korda loses, my consolation prize is that at least ONE of the TWO players I dislike the most also loses.
And I said Korda has more potential than Alcaraz, not that he's currently better than Alcaraz (although Korda came a lot closer to beating Nadal).

My bold prediction is that Djokovic won't even make it to the quarters but if he does Alcaraz will win the match!

Confused - in looking at the draw more closely wouldn't Djokovic and Alcaraz meet in the round of 16 if they both made it that far?

Looks to me like Carlos would meet either Korda or van de Zandschulp in the second round; Fritz/Cilic/Tsonga or Catarina in the third round - and then his round of 16 opponent would be Djokovic/ADF, Giron, Goffin, Evans, RBA or a qualifier? Or have I gotten the round of 16 mixed up???
