He has been the most improved player on tour in last 12 months but never get mentioned while all the hyped mugs are busy losing in early rounds.

Rightfully so. This dude has never won anything bigger than 250 events. And if he makes the final he's gonna be world #1? Holy cow

I have to be objective: Berrettini has looked far worse this week than in any of his other deep slam runs. The early goings of this one seem to confirm the trend. I am confident he will dig deep and try to make it competitive - and he better, or he could be embarrassed worse than he was in that infamous Fed encounter - but I don't see him overcoming the Friendly Goat as he continues his inevitable rise to the top of the tennis world.

Berrettini has been below average all tournament. Ruud has been solid and moves so well.

Rudd might not be talented but he's improved a lot , winning matches on HC even though he was bang average on this surface before this year.

End of last year I was saying he was at least top 15/20 level on hard court. Has still been improving since then and a lot of other players haven't.

And agree with others that Berrettini hasn't looked good this hardcourt season.

Just curious, is Casper well-known in Norway? I'm not sure if tennis is even popular there, but at least his father was the country No.1 a while ago.

Yes, absolutely. But he is hugely overshadowed by Haaland and Ødegaard.

Tennis is a very small sport in Norway, due to our climate. We have a short summer and a cold environment the rest of the year.

Some credit to Berrettini for being able to still make decent Slam runs even when he’s badly out of form like he is here… you don’t see that in too many players. Guys like Tsitsipas, for instance, just bomb out early to some rando. When Berrettini is out of form, though, he more often finds a way to scrape through until he gets to the point where he really should lose. Whether that’ll be this match depends on how Ruud holds up during these next few sets.

Ruud is in better form than any guy left. The rest are all streaky as hell while he is keeping a constant high level. This guy could essentially be a slam champ and #1 soon. LOL. Casper Ruud.. Yeesh

I think if he was healthy he would crush Casper on a hard court. This isn’t a match he should lose

No wonder. Erling and Martin both came to prominence earlier and football seems to dominate everywhere except USA. Casper is a very nice and hardworking guy and I would love to see him achieve more success.
