12 DFs in 10 service games. Niemeier could have definitely won this match today, but it's a terrible Achilles heel, and many in key, important points, too.

Ever since Iga had the towel over her head and a pseudo-cry (who knows, she might have actually cried), she's turned this match around. Wasn't pretty, though. Might be her luckiest win of her career if she pulls it out.

5-0 Iga in the third.

Iga will not get past JPegs with the kind of game she played today against Jules. She'll need more precision and steadiness to get past the American #1.

Creepy on court interviewer.
I could do very well without them.
Anyone know when the very first on court interview started?
I don't remember them 30 years ago.

How was it creepy? Sincere question because I didn’t see.
And yeah, I think all on court interviews are cringy.

Almost a virtual breadstick for Azarenka? Or at least a substantial turnaround!

Edit: this did not age well, Kaplis took the set 7-5 after all.

Wouldn't it be strange, if after everyone has kind of given up on and written off Karo Pliskova, she finally rocks up and wins a major

Maybe when the expectations are lower, it will let her play a little more freely - winner of this match gets the Sabalenka/Collins winner in the QF - could certainly do it if she wins this match and continues the clutch play.

Vika pretty clutch on that last set point. I feel like Karo’s expectations have been pretty low for a while…

Who are the two ESPN3 commentators for Vika/Pliskova match? Any knows? One of the person sounds familiar.
I have the same question, didn't hear they said who they are at the beginning of the match. For one of the match in R1 also on ESPN3 was Elise Burgin but this match I don't think it's her.

Feels like Collins should be a tough matchup for Sabalenka, right? Collins is so aggressive on the 2nd serve return, I'd expect Sabalenka's 2nd serve to go haywire. But Aryna is 3-0 against Danielle, so idk?
