He might not make it past this first round match!Alcaraz. lol
He ain’t making it to the QF
Well you feel the need to bring up Nadal when it isn’t appropriateAnd?
Do people really care about these types of stats?80 matches won at all 4 Slams. Only man or woman to do it. Just confirmed in the on court interview.![]()
True. Let's see how the UsOpen pans out.
I think 3 other big factors for the slam race:
All in all, this is a critical time for Novak. But if he wins Wimbledon 2022, Nadal doesn't win a slam this year, and Alcaraz underperforms (as expected) - Novak will feel good about his slam race chances.
- Can Nadal win another slam? If Nadal gets to 23, Novak's job is all the more harder. He might NOT win the slam race then even if plays UsOpen/AO.
- What about Alcaraz? Will he be a factor in 2023/2024? Novak counts on himself for longevity and expects to play LONGER than Nadal and win more slams. But if Alcaraz starts to GOAT, Novak's chances go down.
- Will Novak win Wimbledon 2022? Seems like a powder puff draw and slam dunk. But if Novak does NOT win Wimbledon 2022, the race is over, especially if Nadal wins it.
Do people really care about these types of stats?
If Diego was half a foot taller, he'd be winning majors I guess?Damn shame Kwon is short and height is wasted on people like Philosopher and ChainZ and a bunch of minimal racket talent players. Kwon has some incredible strokes.
As for Djoko, he’s not going to lose here unless maybe to Rafito playing with numbed footsies.
I think people only care about Slam count right now. Nothing else really matters. That's literally history being made in real time. Of course people care about it.

Nadal hasn’t beat Djokovic on grass since 2008 and HC since 2013![]()
Yeah I didn't expect you to want facts and truth. No I'm good but thanks.![]()
He doesn't need to. His fans do it for him.The most impressive thing about all those losses, is Rafa never makes excuses!
That is kind of sad. Caring about four out of 70+ tournaments a year.. Doesn't make sense..I think people only care about Slam count right now. Nothing else really matters.

Now, now, don’t be b*****y. It doesn’t suit you. They are not excuses, they are reasons![]()
Lol. Yea he kind of kills me with that stuff.Good that they confirmed this before Andy Murray starts wading in with his "male player" corrections
Eh maybe 2nd hardest quarter. 2nd maybe 3rd but only Nadals clearly better.Yeah, why not? His draw is already trash.
Now, now, don’t be b*****y. It doesn’t suit you.
Both have easy draws. But Novak's have been on another level since 2018.Eh maybe 2nd hardest quarter. 2nd maybe 3rd but only Nadals clearly better.
Good post. Mostly agree with everything. My comments in bold.Djokovic wins this Wimbledon but is banned from the USO you'd give some fortune to Nadal there.
- I can see Nadal winning another French Open for sure. And also possibly the USO this year with an easy draw like 2017 and with Novak out.
- It's going to be hard at 37 for Nadal at French Open. He is the clay GOAT and could do it, but will he be healthy?
- Alcaraz? He has just 1 top 10 win at a slam and that's against Tstisipas. I'm nowhere near ready to declare him a threat at winning slams.
- 100% agree. But if Alcaraz doesn't pan out as a threat, Novak's chances go up. Coz if Nadal doesn't win a slam, Novak will.
- Novak Wimbledon 2022? Possibly but his performance today was rusty. He has a very good chance at winning it as his draw already is opening up and it's only day 1. \
- Absolutely. Draw opened up and he's won the last 3 titles and 5 out of last 7. SOLID favorite.
I find it unnecessary to create a match thread for each match. Until recently, there was an unwritten consensus at TTW that match threads were created for attractive match ups (ie two famous top players) and that tournament thread was used for other matches. Thanks to this, tournament threads have reached more than 60/70/80 pages in the past. Now, tournament threads are halved due to overproduction of match threads. And I don't like that.Meanwhile @Enceladus entering TTW 'Pro Match Results' section and seeing 1R match thread has 3 times more posts than tournament thread:

TTW evolved. From single-threaded mess it became a much more tidy place with a set of dedicated threads. That's good.I find it unnecessary to create a match thread for each match. Novak needs to thank his lucky stars he wasn’t facing Struff today.
Well it's clear as day right on this board. All the discussions revolve around the Slam count. Nobody even watches Masters tournaments anymore nor give it much thought. Years back, people were crazy for the smaller tournaments when the big 3 were all competing and fighting for everything. This is back when nobody was skipping the Masters. That is kind of sad. Caring about four out of 70+ tournaments a year.. Doesn't make sense..
Because the Struff on court today would have been a tougher opponent than Kwon. ObviouslyPlease tell us more. Put Darcis and Brown in there while you're at it.
They're excuses. But It's ok. It's perfectly normal in sports. Die hard fans can't accept fair and square defeats. They are not excuses, they are reasons![]()
Who cares. Djokovic isn't playing Stuff so what does it matter now?Because the Struff on court today would have been a tougher opponent than Kwon. Obviously

Have you called a chiropractor for him? His neck joint could be in big trouble after that fall...Meanwhile @Enceladus entering TTW 'Pro Match Results' section and seeing 1R match thread has 3 times more posts than tournament thread:

It doesn’t but that wasn’t my point.Who cares. Djokovic isn't playing Stuff so what does it matter now?
Struff hasn't even beaten Alcaraz yet.It doesn’t but that wasn’t my point.
I know. My point is the level of tennis being played by Struff and also ADF today would have seen Djokovic on the plane home now in comparison to what Kwon had to offer.Struff hasn't even beaten Alcaraz yet.
You're mistaken if you think that. To beat the big 2, you need consistency for the duration. Struff isn't one who is going to beat Djokovic in a major. Djokovic would've adjusted and read his game. Struff would've began leaking errors as Djokovic continued keeping the ball in play and moving him around.I know. So what? Novak looked like trash in many matches at Wimbledon 2018, 2019 and 2021. Yet still he brought the goods against Nadal, Federer, Berretini, etc. You really dismissing a 6 time Wimbledon champion who's won here 3 consecutive times? That is speculation.
The level of tennis played on court today by both ADF and Struff is way way higher than Kwon’s. Djokovic struggled against Kwon who had no weapons and barely held serve, so it’s fairly logical to conclude that he would have in all likelihood been at a high risk of losing R1 had he faced them.
Of course it’s all hypothetical but the bottom line is, Novak got lucky if that was his level today.
Lol no I’m not. I’m saying he got lucky playing Kwon who was nowhere near the level of the two players I’m talking about! His level today wouldn’t have seen him into round 2 against them. Today. Not what he’s done before. Today. So what? Novak looked like trash in many matches at Wimbledon 2018, 2019 and 2021. Can you tell me how lucky was Nadal at AO2022 and RG2023. Luckiest everLol no I’m not. I’m saying he got lucky playing Kwon who was nowhere near the level of the two players I’m talking about! His level today wouldn’t have seen him into round 2 against them. Today. Not what he’s done before. Today.
Because Novak wasn’t at the AO? Not really considering he hasn’t delivered his dominating level since last years WB.Can you tell me how lucky was Nadal at AO2022 and RG2023. Luckiest ever

No player goes on a tear forever you know. Not even Novak.
RG 2023 hasn’t happened yet.
Fed had by far the easiest draw in 18 not Novak’s fault he ****ed it up.Both have easy draws. But Novak's have been on another level since 2018.
I said since 2018 as in I did not include 2018.Fed had by far the easiest draw in 18 not Novak’s fault he ****ed it up.
