Djokovic has a challenger level draw, so he will not have to play anyone better.
If Alcaraz gets his stuff together he’ll be tougher than anyone Nadal has in his draw

Big if.If Alcaraz gets his stuff together he’ll be tougher than anyone Nadal has in his draw
The Kevin Anderson match was up there with the best tennis he played all year imo. That was vintage Djoko. Agreed that he was very much not sharp for the rest of the tournament though. This might be very reactionary but tbh so far I think this is better than anything Djokovic played at Wimbledon last year, even if the opponent is very subpar. Haven't seen him play this aggressively and with as much depth on grass in a while. He seemed to be struggling with his footwork quite a bit last year and slipping all the time. Maybe the fact that players were able to practice on Centre prior to the tournament and the court is already a bit worn is helping him. Plus no nerves associated with chasing the joint lead in the slam race/hype around potential CYGS already building like it was last year.
As someone who bet on Nadal this performance makes me really nervous.
This is the exact form that Novak needs to win Wimbledon. Kokk is flattering him of course, but this precision and depth is there in a major way.

Did you bet your house? As someone who bet on Nadal this performance makes me really nervous.

Rafa was complete and utter **** yesterday. He’s facing a stiff! Come on man. Nadal should get good practice tomorrow against Berankis as well.
Yeah the Anderson match is the other one I was thinking of.As someone who bet on Nadal this performance makes me really nervous.

Until he plays better I will not praise him for form that he hasn't shown.
nah, the odds on Nadal are so good that I didn't bet much at allDid you bet your house?
Exactly man this is how information works.Dude so was novak in his first match. Nadal hasn’t played on grass in 3 years. I will cut him some slack. Anyway let’s see how he does tomorrow if he gets adjusted.
Thats nice, no one can accuse you for being unpredictableExactly man this is how information works.
Novak plays bad - I say he played bad, worried about his form
Novak plays better - I give him credit for playing well and like his chances
Nadal plays bad - I say he played bad, worried about his form
Nadal will have to play better to get credit from me.
Yeah I've been pleasantly surprised with the reception he's received here. It was honestly uncomfortable watching the hostility that the crowd were directing towards him in France at times. The reception Djokovic is getting in UK in greater than he usually gets. In France, it was the opposite. Interesting.

The scary part is that he can only improve from here. A very very sad fortnight is upon the Nadal fansDjokovic remembered how to hit a backhand with power. This is not good.
Novak is in for a treat.Kokk is flattering him of course, but this precision and depth is there in a major way.
This is excellent practice for NovakKokk has been atrocious so for in this set, but Djokovic is playing much better than in the first round. Sharper groundies and great depth, but it was expected. I expect Nadal to improve his level quite a bit, too.
Yeah, sure. #nolefamAt this level, Novak is unbeatable on grass. The rest of the tournament is for 2nd place.
#21 and Sampras Wimbledon #7 coming up.
I'm surprised how heavy his forehand is and even more surprised that he has done almost nothing on clay. But yeah, it could be that the injuries really hampered his carrer.Kokk is a good ballstriker and playing better in this set. If he wasn't so injury prone he would have done more in tennis.
The general climate in France seems very hostile atm since covid times with Macron in charge. I don't know if you follow soccer/football but Paris was hosting the Champions League final between Liverpool and Madrid and French police who have been enforcing Macron's covid laws pretty aggressively were pepper spraying innocent fans after a few French youths managed to get into the stadium with fake tickets. Authorities then shut the entrances into the stadium and fans started accumulating in large numbers in enclosed spaces outside of the stadium and getting extremely claustrophobic and agitated. Apparently there were muggings at knife point after the game too. I have a friend who went and said he just felt lucky to get out alive. I think the hostility and economic difficulties that have resulted from covid and associated restrictions has just made it a really unpleasant environment atm.Strange in France indeed. Usually he gets more support in France than the UK. Not this year.
imagine if he somehow ll be out coz of covid (like super matteo)Crazy depth from Novak.
EDIt: and a goat volley after, lol...

Man, I hope nobody goes out anymore, it has already been a disaster...I'm sure the organizers would let Nad and Djok play even if they are positive, they can't risk a bankruptcy, lol.imagine if he somehow ll be out coz of covid (like super matteo)

Goran beat some sense into himKokkinakis isn't doing great, but this isn't the subpar Djokovic that we saw in his first-round match. He's going to be very hard to beat if he keeps playing like this.
"Ready to get your a** beaten?"
