when are these pathetic mugs gonna step up and beat Djokovic? All he does is play negative and get the ball back in play. He looks beatable. It bores me to tears watching Djokovic win Wimbledon every year. The sooner he retires the better.

This sums up the problem I have with post-2015 Djokovic on grass, and especially post-2019 Djokovic. His groundstrokes are pusher groundstrokes nowadays - he relies on not making many errors in them and using a fantastic return of serve and pretty good 1st serve to win free points in rallies under 4 shots.

It's why the match against Rafa would have been so fascinating. He cannot hit through Nadal the way he did at the ATP Cup or Aussie Open, and Nadal hits much heavier aggressive groundstrokes than him, AND can do so consistently unlike the next gen. So it would have been a battle of his superior serve and serve return vs Nadal's superior baseline shots and all-round variety. It would have been another 5-setter for sure.

You know that game where you count 1 sheep, 2 sheep, 3 sheep and so on till you fall asleep?

Well I have been counting 1 mug, 2 mugs, 3 mugs.... since so many years that I would fallen asleep a hundred times over by now.

I really feel like the persistence of the Big 3 now is bad for tennis. Norrie is an interesting watch when he plays a normal opponent. He just looks so awful in this match. Not even a point to watching another player just dissolve when playing Djokovic. Bad for the sport. Ugh.

Djokodal are the only ones keeping this sport alive now that Fed is gone. These Next Gen mugs don't deserve anything so I hope they win nothing.

Djokovic can't afford this slow of a start against Kyrgios. The last thing you wanna do is give someone with a huge serve a mental advantage, especially when he's already talking about being nervous for the final, Novak needs to crush him in the first set and establish that there is no way back for Nick.

I’ve never seen him volley better than he has done today everything else has been meh though

Yeah I think Nick will bend over and wilt if he goes down early breaks or sets. Especially in the heat

Still think Novak will win even if krygios gets first set. For Nick to have a good chance he needs the first 2 in my opinion. The longer it goes the tougher Novak becomes and his opponent usually weakens

I think comments about this match are useless. Let’s start talking about the upcoming match Kyrgios- Djokovic here.

Agassi once talked about the importance of sound, fairly simple, repeatable strokes - and how the importance of that is only magnified as the opponent gets better, the pace gets faster, the need for accuracy increases. He said something like you can't have a stroke that makes you think about it. Not that players can't achieve a lot with a somewhat "funky" stroke - many have. But to be consistently in the mix for big titles, it's hard to overcome that. I think I'd put Norrie's forehand in that category of funky strokes. He's won a masters, he's made a Slam SF - clearly it's very good in the larger sense and he's having a very good career. But for winning huge titles, is it too glitchy and deficient? To me, against the best, it seems shank prone, and then he turn around nets balls seemingly taking something off it to avoid shank risk. Or all of this could be nothing and he's just overwhelmed by the occasion and a GOAT player.

You guys know that one scene from Office Space where Peter is talking to the occupational hypnotherapist, and he says that every day has been worse than the day before, so every day that you see him it's the worst day of his life.

Starting to feel that way with watching slams. Maybe some decent slams scattered here and there, but I honestly don't remember most of them since 2017, and it's hard to not top slams like the 2020 US Open. Still feels like we're still massively trending downwards in terms of quality though.

Are we hyping up Nick now like we did with Med last year at AO 2021?

Novak can start the match how he wants. Kyrgios will just be unable to return his serve and serve his way out of trouble in the breakers.

Well....Medvedev seemed like that guy for a minute until whatever the hell has been happening this year

Novak will get a look at enough of krygios serves as well. The court is like green clay now which isn’t good for Nick. Plus Novak is more used to centre than Nick as well. Nick needs the first 2 sets to have any chance.

Kind of like the Republican Party. I thought during the bush era that surely it can't get worse than this. Then just a few years later we got Trump, banned abortions and scotus has just got started.

Bush era was great in comparison lol
