Djokovic's last big / late-round match against a British player on Centre Court didn't have a particularly happy ending - for him ;)



He did, however, exact some revenge by taking out Kyle Edmund in Wimbledon 2018

Novak likely wins this in 3 or 4 though.
 
Djokovic facing the home grown player, in his own backyard.

The tests keep on coming for Djokovic, Goffin would have been the ideal opponent. He will be fighting that crowd big time on Friday, as they will want their guy to make the final.

Tough one, but Djokovic should pull through hopefully.

Maybe Fritz beats Nadal, Novak gets overconfident that the title is in the bag, the crowd roots wildly for Norrie and he ambushes Novak.

I don't think anyone but the most delusional would claim this is a tough draw lol.

I guess Sinner was a bit better than expected, but as soon as Hurkacz lost the SF was guaranteed to be a joke.

Hold your horses. Nadal may play a certain Garin in the SF. Besides, what kind of draw does Nadal have lol? Why are you complaining?

When did I say Nadal has a tough draw? He said some say Djokovic has a tough draw, can you follow the exchange lol?
 
Honestly, what does Norrie have that he can hurt Novak with? At best he might be able to sneak a close set if he plays well beyond his usual abilities and Novak has an off day. I can't see anything beyond that.

Nadal has Fritz, Kygrios and Novak to the title.
What if Novak had Fritz, Kygrios and Nadal to the title? That would be a tough draw.

Fritz is a better player than most think he is, just because he hasn't done much. But he is in the form of his life at a surface that works for him.
And obviously Kygrios can beat anyone on his day. Something more than can be said of Sinner who NEVER beats a top player.

The dream run for Norrie will end with a crushing defeat. I'm taking Djoker with an easy clean sweep here. Norrie hasn't played anybody yet. We know that Norrie needed 5 sets to beat Goffin, a player that now has a career 1-10 record on grass vs the top 10(he beat Zverev). Norrie has a career 0-5 record vs the top 10 on grass.

Let's take a look at whom Norrie has beaten so far:

Goffin:
1-10 vs top 10 on grass
2-14 vs to 20 on grass

Tommy Paul:
7-5 record overall on grass

Steve Johnson, currently ranked 93rd in the world
1-9 record vs top 20 on grass

Jaume Munar
career 1-8 record on grass

Pablo Andujar, ranked 100th in the world
3-17 career record on grass

For the crowd's sake, I hope that Djokovic gifts Norrie one set

LOL is this seriously a Wimbledon SF??? I mean I have seen tougher Pune Open SFs. Anyhoo Novak in 3 with 2 bakery products and a relatively tighter set of 6-4

Pretty obvious Novak will reach the final. Cameron Diaz, I mean Cameron Norrie stands no chance.

Norrie can be effective although his strokes look like trash - huge backswing on the FH, shovel-like flat BH. He is a smart player with deceptively good movement. Easy to under-rate him but he has been consistently moving up the rankings.

Not good enough to beat Djokovic on grass though. The partisan crowd might be counterproductive for his chances as Djokovic will likely not letdown at the start or early in the 2nd set which has been a problem for Novak in many matches lately.
 
As much as I like Cam Norrie's improved game, I can't see a path for him to defeat Djokovic. Of course, the same was true of Goffin. Sinner was the last gate before the final IMO...
