Didn't expect three sets for this one.....wow.
How do you solve a problem like Maria?
By not getting too comfortable. She was too relax at beginning set 2.

Anyone who can hit consistent, aggressive shots off short, slow mid-court balls should destroy either of these players. Unfortunately it seems like the WTA's current power players are head cases who are capable of showing up and missing 50% of their attacking shots on any given day.If Jabeur makes the final and plays like this, she's toast against either Halep or Rybakina. If Maria wins, Halep or Rybakina should destroy her.
It is terrible except everyone else has been playing even worse. So far halep is the only one who seems to be playing well.I love how Maria plays exactly how she has played all tournament, and everyone says it’s terrible tennis.

Sakkari and ostapenko are one dimensional ball bashers.Hard to believe how Maria got here by defeating Sakkari and Ostapenko.
Maria’s game looks like tennis from the 80‘s, 90’s but not even with the same intensity and quality. Perhaps she defeated the likes of Sakkari and Ostapenko just because they are not used to her slice & dice game.
Her slice causes her opponent to miss a lot of balls into the net. But this set, she looks in trouble because her forehand slice has gone awol.It is terrible except everyone else has been playing even worse. So far halep is the only one who seems to be playing well.

Cause and effect are interrelated.Jabeur increasing the pace as well imo.
Big trouble....Ons isn't going to blow a lead like Ostapenko. Her slice causes her opponent to miss a lot of balls into the net. But this set, she looks in trouble because her forehand slice has gone awol.

Fixed your post95% of the WTA are one dimensional ball bashers.
Yeah, she earned that one by making her opponent hit a high volley into the stands from 3 feet behind the net. Good job.Another break! 4-0. So good.

Apparently the way to win game points against Maria is to give her short, high balls.Just absolutely awful.
That can be said to many WTA players except a few.Sakkari and ostapenko are one dimensional ball bashers.
First African in a slam final in the OE
That’s when Maria gave up on her slicing.Jabeur gets to 5-0 playing orthodox tennis, then starts playing drop shots and dinks...why?
Do you mean woman? I think Kevin Anderson is from Africa too.First African in a slam final in the OE
That’s when Maria gave up on her slicing.
And now she has shown young girls around the world how to beat 95% of WTA players.Maria's a 34 year old who'd never previously been past the 2nd round of a slam.
When Jabeur plays well, she’s hard to beat. 3 of her last 5 sets were 6-1.Another break! 4-0. So good.
I love how Maria plays exactly how she has played all tournament, and everyone says it’s terrible tennis.
Either that, or the WTA is entering into a weak era.Well, I don't know Maria's game from before, but I doubt she retooled it just prior to Wimbledon at age 34, so I assume this has been her style for a long time. In her entire 21-year career up to this point, this style of play had gained her no success outside of 250s, so relatively speaking, it's been terrible tennis until this one tournament.
Woman. Kevin Anderson is African.
Okay, North AfricanDo you mean woman? I think Kevin Anderson is from Africa too.
