Coming in late here, but that first set between Iga and Andreescu was superb. It's too bad the ump blatantly missed two line calls in that match. The first one in the tiebreaker seemed to undo Bianca's mental game, and then Swiatek raised her level, which was already high, and it was over. Andreescu held tough that first set, and if she played like that all the time, she'd be a major force again. Swiatek does play like that all the time or even better and it doesn't look like anyone on tour can stop her at the moment.

It was the rare match where I really like both players and could root for both to play well on every point. Whoever won was a plus for me.

Bibi sticking with Swiatek which is lovely to see. Up a break now.

The truly most talented young player showing the de facto dominant player what peak level looks like.

Of course knowing Andreescu she’ll retire midway through the second set…
Truly most talented ROFL. Keep embarassing yourself.

Eish, that was some fantastical unravelling by Sakkari. This is WTA, but even then, it was that bad. 5-2 serving for the win and you only manage to win one more game from there.
Good for Jabeur, but that was hard to watch.

Heaven help us if Sakkari ever has to serve out for a major title.

Looking at who's left, I think Sabalenka is the most likely to run Swiatek close (if she's dialled in). Can Jabeur sustain this run all the way through 2 more matches inc Swiatek? Doubt it.

Wow, I thought Jabeur will be done and gone...
I stopped watching after seeing how poorly Jabeur played in set 1. Then later checked the score to find she won.

Sometimes it almost looks like she intentionally let them 1st set go, because she doesn't have the stamina to play a real drawn-out 3 setter, but she has confidence to play a good 2 sets.

Swiatek beat Sabalenka 2 and 2 at Stuttgart, though match was closer than scoreline shows. Maybe Sabalenka can take a set, but she'll need to really zone in/Swiatek to play below par to actually win.

Jabeur has potential and can disrupt the rhythm. But yeah, it will be 6 matches in a row in a week for her if she get there. I think Kasatkina/Teichmann will beat Jabeur tho, especially Kasatkina with those long rallies.

Holy crap I didn't see the score after 5-2 in the second

Dang, nice and sunny in Rome. I'm so jealous it's been raining for several days where I am. Will be sunny on Monday.... Can't wait to play tennis again...

It had the feel of a real blockbuster semi final at the start, but by the end...

It sort of reminded me of when Federer thrashed Roddick in Australia; a big hitting player made to look very ordinary and insignificant.

If Swiatek loses any match between now and the end of the French Open it will be a major major shock as far as I'm concerned. She looks amazing right now.

The now retired Barty was the only one on tour to challenge Swiatek. I wonder which of the remaining can break her streak?

Someone at Wimbledon, possibly. I think Swiatek will win Wimbledon, just maybe not this year.

Possibly someone like a Collins or a Pliskova will hold serve enough to beat her in the quarters or something. Maybe

The thing about tennis is that it's very much a mental sport.
Swat-it has shown some vulnerabilities in that department.
All it takes is a bad night's sleep or some other physical problem (minor or major) to crop up
plus a psyched, capable opponent and she could very well be taken out.
