Maria takes the first @ 2 without much resistance.

Dallas isn’t Ft. Worth. Guess atatu is another one of my fans, but we have a match going currently.

Sabalenka's game per sé is unwatchable. Super inconsistent. But every match involves drama and plot twists so that makes it watchable again

No plot twist here lol Sabalenka is terrible. Getting absolutely hammered. Sakkari seems to pull through this one in roughly an hour

Maria's going to have to start playing some actual tennis again. She's been using the wise (until this point) strategy of simply hitting back down the middle to Sabalenka and letting her implode. But now that she's not wildly missing every other shot, the match is tightening back up. Time to start actually constructing points.

God Sakkari is weird.

Can be so clutch to go deep making SF's and finals, but has just one international title.

She loses easily to Pegula in the Guadalajara 1000 final a week ago, then defeats her in straight sets this week. Now she's up a set on Sabalenka and looking like she'll make the SF's at the YEC for the 2nd year in a row.

But again, the woman who has been as high as #3 and is currently #5 has just one title, a small International.

I mean Kasatkina is 2 years younger and spent much less time in the top 10 and she has 6 titles!

Maria gets a nasty net cord, then breaks to 5-4.

And Aryna was pissed about Hawkeye, so she challenged one 2' out.

She was 1 victory away from being no.1 too had she beaten Iga in the masters final a week before Barty retired. Insane.

What a turn around. CG and JP were playing a 7/10 Schuurs and a barely alive DK, then they woke up and steamrolled the American team. Never panic. All the slams and titles experience.

I'm not sure whether it's the line up or lack of buzz, but I'm really not engaged with this year's YEC like I was last year's. I hope Swiatek wins it as she's been the standout player of the year, so it would certainly be fitting in that regard.

So sad to see Garcia going from beautifully constructing points this summer to now brainless ballbashing, ripping every 2nd ball right down the middle of the court.

Iga just doing the bare minimum and keeping the ball in the court until Garcia blows the point

Swiatek wins 6-3, 6-2, taking down Garcia, an opponent who potentially could have given her a lot of trouble and has done so in the past.

As bad as she was tonight, I still think Garcia will get through. This is the weaker group for me, even with Swiatek in it. The other group has been a total battle royale.

Obviously, Garcia will murder Kasatkinas serve. Pretty much a bye for her

I have no idea why Coco won't step into the court especially on Kasatkina's 2nd serve. That thing floats into the court at 60mph and begs for abuse. There's absolutely no point standing behind the baseline for 60mph serves, in fact it's brainless

PSNELKE

This is hilarious. Kasatkina is literally abusing Gauff's Forehand. It's such a comically bad shot, even someone as powerless as Kasatkina can attack it

Lindsay dav says coco is serving 20mph slower than normal. That’s weird. I hate to see her crash out of this tournament but I hope it causes her coach to fix the forehand. Shes still so young she has time to work on it!

Wow what an abysmal performance by Gauff. Honestly if she had even a tiny bit of decency, she'd refund those 100 people in attendance their ticket money. Outrageously bad stuff. With all due respect for Kasatkina, she's done a lot this year but at the YEC she's a 0-6 player

I mean if she's serving that much slower I would have to assume it's an injury and not just a lack of confidence for the tournament. But sad to hear.

Lmfao say what you want but Gauff is throwing that match on purpose. Literally overan a Kasatkina floater without even trying to hit it

And people wonder why the arena in Fort Worth is empty..imagine paying to watch this trash tennis

Gauff has won 40% of her service points and Kasatkima 48%
