Both Federer and Alcaraz won their latest Wimbledon title in a memorable fashion - In 2017, Federer became the first man ever to not only drop 0 sets on his path to victory, but also won Wimbledon for a record 8th time. Whilst Alcaraz became the first man since Andy Murray all the way back in 2013 to defeat Novak Djokovic on Wimbledon Centre Court and also ended his 5 year reign there.
With that being said, which player performed at a higher level at Wimbledon, Federer from 2017 or Alcaraz from 2023?

In overcoming a much better opponent, Alcaraz was the choice for me. Cilic was injured in the final, BTW.

Cilic was a terrible opponent so it’s hard to gauge Fed’s actual form in the final but he looked good in the rest of the tournament so I’ll give it to him. Alcaraz had way too many ups and downs to really be favored here.

Yes, Federer, but not that easily. In 4 or even 5. The kid is tough af.
“Tough af”? You mean the kid that needed a very close 5-set match to barely overcome a 36-year-old, way past-prime Djokovic, who choked terribly and whose best surface isn’t even grass? Lmao 2017 Federer would destroy the 20-year-old Alcaraz so badly.
Although if 2017 Federer were to face 2023 Djokovic, he would once again dominate most of the match, only to somehow find a way to miraculously choke it away at the end.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their opinions! In my opinion, 2017 Federer would convincingly defeat 20-year-old Alcaraz. And I bet even 2019 Federer would do the same.

Perhaps this was a mismatch… How about this:
2006 Federer vs 2023 Alcaraz, BUT Alcaraz starts with a 2 sets to love lead and a break in the 3rd set.
Because otherwise, 2006 Federer would humiliate him in such an unbearably cruel fashion that even the Wimbledon crowd would boo at Roger in a worse fashion than they did to Nole in 2019 lol

Nah, I disagree on what you say about Djokovic. That 36 year old was tough af as well. I think he too would lose to 2017 Federer, but it could be close.

Btw even if grass is not Djok's best surface, doesn't mean he isn't a beast on grass. I know, he's no Federer, and no Sampras either, I'm not suggesting that.

OK whoever picked Alcaraz must be either trolling or truly delusional. Even Nole fans would agree that 2017 Federer would mop the floor with 2023 Alcaraz, especially on grass.

Federer had all the opportunities to defeat a real opponent in Djokovic. But he had to beat a fake, and injured, one in Cilic.
