Couldn't sleep so I caught up on some matches from Rome. Cerundolo put on one hell of a beatdown. Sinner's forehand coughs up sitter after sitter when facing someone who hits heavy topspin shots.

I also realized that the only top player that Sinner has beaten consistently over the past year has been Alcaraz (relatively speaking, of course) . I really feel that Alcaraz often lets Sinner into matches because he starts trying to blast groundstrokes with Sinner and gives Sinner a lot of pace to work with and redirect.

Yes, exactly. Alcaraz makes it into a ball bashing contest instead of employing variety. That's playing right into Sinner's hands.

Novak being outplayed, and rattled by his predicament. Who wouldn't be.

But I'll focus on Rune. What a superb effort from him. Not just to attack and go for his shots but to remain so composed. A mature and intelligent approach, which he has been able to execute with some finesse. He is 5-1 one up in the decider. Will he finish it off?

I watched the Coric / Marzsan match last night and despite FM losing to BC, am impressed with his game. I hope he'll do well looking forward. Well done to BC for prevailing.

I enjoy Musetti's game - he can play so beautifully, as can Tsitsipas. ST seems to be finding form again and it will be interesting to see how he plays, deeper in the tournament.

Please Ruud we need you. I've been waiting for that rematch for a long time. Can't even find their RG encounter anywhere on the internet outside of a 2 min highlight (gee thanks RG channel for such great content smh). Personally I believe Ruud cannot stand Rune. Even going so far as to think Ruuds drop in level is in direct correlation to Runes rise. They don't like each other. Would be spicy as hell.

Well.. the Pure Aero or APD is back in the later rounds of huge events.
Seemed like Head/Wilson were the only racquets that could go deep in these events.
I think every match I’ve watched from start to finish in Rome has a member of the Aero family on at least one side of the court.

I think, if Cerundolo plays close to the level of his last matches, it will be difficult for Ruud.

Thanks. I was aware of it, but appreciate your signposting me to it.
I usually prefer to post about the tournament generally, as to what has happened / is happening, and comment on a current match within such posts.

A simply outstanding performance by HR today - hats off to him for remaining resolute. To do so against one of the greatest players to date is a phenomenal achievement, backing up his win over Novak in Paris Bercy 2022.

It has been interesting to see the progress of the next generation. With Alcaraz /Sinner /Rune in particular, there is every reason to anticipate that they will realise their respective potential, and continue to improve and develop into great players. It is a given that they each have a lot to accomplish and the horizon will be a mix of success / failure and a plethora of other nuances. These chaps are growing before our eyes - learning about themselves / their fellow players / the game /their lives etc. Nothing is certain, or remains the same, but it is entirely reasonable to expect that they will continue to work hard and to do their best if they wish to play at the highest level.

For the purposes of Rome, only Rune remains of the said trio. Very well done to him.

Now for the next match. Ruud seems to have gained confidence and momentum, and enjoys clay when he's on form. But.......... I believe Cerundolo will have other ideas. Let's see.

^id love to see that match. YouTube Tv no longer has TTCH so I have to use TennisTv. I wish tennisTv could stream WTA.

Ruud/Cerundolo out on court. Honestly both their games and prospects in the sport excite me. I think we have a good amount t of years to see them battle for these massive titles….so I’m 50/50.
But I know I’ll complain about something lol

Umpire gets out of chair to check the mark directly under his nose. He calls it IN.
Then seconds later Hawkeye calls the ball OUT! LOL!

I don't know about you, but all these guys Cerundolo, Ruud, Rune, Alcaraz, Sinner, Fritz et al.
look the same to me.

Rune plays Djokovic differently than he plays against most other players. He deliberately plays excessive topspin FH's and takes pace off the ball since Novak prefers pace and a steady rhythm. Holger throws in some junk balling deliberately to not give him a predictable look. Then will occasionally blast a ball to mix it up and keep Djoker guessing.

This was an excellent mental performance from him, unlike his immature performances in the MC final and at the AO this year. He's evolving as we speak, sort of like watching Fed in 2000-2002 (not that I'm suggested the Dane is anywhere near the talent level of Roger).

Would you mind discussing that in a private chat or something?
I don't mind. But I also will not let false accusations and libelous remarks go uncontested. People here are regurgitating false and lazy generalizations from 25+ years ago, and they persist because there are so few people to set the record straight. These easily fooled parrots seem to enjoy spreading a false narrative about a numerical minority group, but unfortunately for them there is someone here that knows the truth and reality of the situation.
SS Nazïo. lol
Are you seriously going to thrown the term "****" around like that? Do you realize that what you are doing is the very height of ignorance? I guess I should just thank you for exposing your true self for everyone to see.

As for the video, is it some kind of joke? Some clueless dude from who knows where, cherry picking some biased news articles in the most intellectually dishonest and ill-conceived way possible? Wow. If that clown had ever step foot in Curva Nord and exchanged two words with anyone there, I might be inclined to reply to him, but that clearly isn't the case. (He can't even pronounce "Irriducibili" correctly, which is all you need to know.)

So Marozsan was a one match wonder then. Nothing exceptional about him today
Yeah, he played great against Moutet, and then didn't do much else. Oh well...

You cannot change other people's minds just by repeating what you already said. There is proof out there that may suggest that you are wrong on some accounts.
It "may suggest" something to you, but it isn't actual proof, because what you claim is demonstrably false. Also, your claim about domestic cups being more important than European cups is hilariously weak. Talk to any supporter of Roma, or any other team (especially PSG) and you will quickly be set straight.

Somehow it feels like Lazio AND Roma are actually both the Tottenham of Italy, except even more racist and fascist. Well done.
I thought Tottenham was known for having a large contingent of Jewish fans, which typically aren't fascist, no? And in any case, the whole point is that pretty much every major club has various "ultra" fans groups, and among the vast majority of them you can find small pockets of political extremists. They are EVERYWHERE, and if people read the news, they would know that. And since Lazio has a comparatively small fanbase, it stands to reason that they have comparable fewer of these extreme fans, but let's not let logic get in the way of a good story, right?

I've lived in Rome off and on for several decades and Lazio has always been the team of choice for right-wingers in the area. This is very widely known both in Rome and in Italy in general.

Please feel free not to 'waste time on people like me' and to keep your fiction to yourself.
Oh, "lived in Rome off and on"? Putting aside the fact that I'm not even sure what that is supposed to mean, I guess you couldn't find the time to talk to anyone that was actually informed on the subject? Nothing of what you claim is widely known in Rome or Italy, unless you are talking about people that are as clueless as you are (and yes, believe it or not, there are Romans and Italians that don't know or care about football/soccer). You know, those Roma "supporters" that can only actually name two players on the team: Totti and DeRossi (yeah, those are STILL the only two... oops).

Nothing I have written is fiction. It's the exact opposite, actually. And if you ever took the time to attend a Lazio match and/or talk to people who that are actually well informed on the topic, you would be quite embarrassed at the nonsense you have so mindlessly repeated. Seriously, got and see for yourself during one of your "on" periods in Rome. Listen to Radiosei... (Just try not to feel too bad about yourself when all of the decent people and little children at the stadium laugh at you).

It would be alot easier to get behind Tstsipas if you knew he wasn't going to just lay an egg in the finals. I always feel like hes taking up someone's else spot who will at least provided a decent threat to the finals

Great slice by Tsitsi (rare sight I know) to change momentum at set point and real nice backhand dropshot to close it off. Tough match like always with those 2.

I'm watching just not posting. Tsitsipas has looked the better player by far today, and I think he will beat Medvedev in the semis.
Hope so, it's the first time I'm worried about an encounter of theirs (yes I was deluded enough to never even fear him on hard despite the H2H). I feel Stef hasn't S&Ved at all this clay seson and it was his tactic for the two recent wins on hard. Let's see him close this because he's lost far bigger advantages to Coric
