ATP H2H: 10:2 for Djoker
GS H2H: 2:0 for Djoker
HC H2H: 5:2 for Djoker
Final H2H: 5:0 for Djoker

The winner of this match will replace Alcaraz as World No.1. Tsitsipas is aiming for his premiere Grand Slam title, while Djokovic can win his 22nd Grand Slam title, equal Nadal's record and reach La Decima in Australia.

A good final considering the absolute state of next next gen in this tournament. Meddy would have been better for a neutral but I don’t think the result would change at all.

Tsitsipas might get a set here. Sort of like 3-0.5 to Djoker

There is just no way Tsitsipas takes down Djokovic in the AO final when Djokovic is going for the top ranking, 10th AO and 22th Slam to equal Nadal. Easy peasy SF, injury seems to be dealt with plus he's absolutely crushed Tsitsipas in the h2h with their last 9 matches going 9-0. There's no scenario where I would bet on Tsitsipas, I wouldn't trust him to win even if he lead 2-0 in sets. I honestly think the 2021 FO final loss when Tsitsipas lead 2-0 and still lost pretty much destroyed him mentally against Djokovic.

He'll fight, but lose 85% of the crucial points, I see something like 6-3 6-4 7-5.

Djokovic sounded extremely confident in that on court interview for sunday.

Djokovic is 100% winning this but that kind of stuff is meaningless. Remember his comments before the USO 2021 Final when he said he was going to treat it like the last match of his career lol?

Can't judge Djokovic by anything he says, but the play alone suggests an easy final

The thing with Tsitsipas is he has enough on the serve and FH to make you sweat, plus his movement is good. He’s not a pushover like the rest of these guys. He can legitimately outplay Djokovic on some points and go on runs on his serve. There is real danger, at least in theory.

OtOH I have no clue what he’s gonna do with that backhand. His topspin feeds perfectly into Novak’s ball striking wheel house. Tsitsipas could make it interesting but he’s got a very low margin for error. Novak would have to suck heavily to lose more than a set

He's going to slice more with his moderately improved slice, and it won't work

Tsitsipas gonna try to do the impossible. But he will be lucky to even win a set. This looks like AO2021 all over again. Medvedev got obliterated. And he had a lot of hype going in too. Was a big letdown for the Djokovic haters and Nadal fans that day.

For Djoker, this is the 8th Grand Slam final against an opponent younger than himself and the 7th GS final against an opponent born in the 1990s. He lost only one - US Open 2021 against Medvedev.

He can win a set if Djok gets nervous or lapses like in 1st set vs PAUL

yep USO - djokovic doesnt have a particularly great record. Its his 2nd weakest slam and weakest fast court slam.

Maybe Tsitsipas will be a man and hit only flat DTL.

Djokovic in 3 straightforward sets with Stefanos struggling to generate even deuce, leave aside break points on the Serbian's serve
Final scoreline :-
63 64 64 Noval Djokovic

It will not be straightforward for either of them on Sunday. Tsitsipas has the game to beat Djokovic, no doubt. Djokovic has the experience to pull through.
Would you - and the rest who thinks it won't be fairly straightforward - please help fill out the ...'s below? Thanks

I'll try and do a 'the case for' each of them

The case for Djokovic:
  • It's his home court. 9-0 in finals.
  • Is on track to his most dominant AO win ever
  • Aside from the first set vs. Paul, he's looked scary good in his last 3 matches
  • 9-0 in the last 9 vs. Tsitsipas
  • He's won his last 18 matches vs. top-5 players at the AO dating back to Federer 2007
  • Not counting Laver Cup, Djoko has lost just once since the FO
  • He can bully the Tsitsipas BH with his groundies and his serve
  • He can hurt Tsitsipas going dtl with his own BH, while Tsits is camping in his BH corner. Tsits running FH ain't great when stretched
  • Should it somehow go five, I would pick Novak both mentally and physically
  • He's got the edge in the serve, return, court coverage, tennis IQ, BH etc. department
  • He's got the mental edge, the experience edge and the tennis edge
  • Looks as if the roof will be closed
The case for Tsitsipas:
  • Okay, I need help here guys...
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • Just kidding, there's gotta be something right?
  • Right?
  • ....
  • ....
  • Right?
  • Djokovic' infamous hammy could become an actual problem (jk)
  • Tsitsipas' got more and bigger weapons than anyone Djoko's faced
  • Tsitsipas is on a winning streak of his own, winning his last 10 - some being against very decent opponents
  • Tsitsipas' has made some of the matches in that 0-9 stretch quite close, including in the Paris semi most recently
  • Tsitsipas can defend well enough to extend the rallies and has enough firepower on his forehand to actually hurt Novak
  • Tsitsipas can finish points at the net
  • The Djokovic from the first set vs. Paul could make a reappearance

As i said it depends on what Novak turns up.

If kit is Novak from S/F i think Tsitsipas will win but if it is Novak from last 16 or Q/F then cannot see past Novak.

It just all depends on the day. If Novak does get off to a good start he will be hard to haul back though.

since novak's been winning so easily with that fake leg injury,, he will probably relax and be over confident thinking he can run over this 1-handed backhand fool and Stepanoe will come in and blow him away ??
