Absolutely 100% ageee with this. If you have to sit it out until Wimbledon, take the risk. This draw opening up like this doesn't happen often. Have to go for it and hope for the best.
Problem is hamstrings often don't heal that well if you injure them severely enough. A lot of top athletes (especially soccer players) are never really the same after a tear (which is the form of hamstring injury that would be required in order to keep Novak out until Wimbledon), so you wouldn't want to play through that. Not that you'd be able to anyway because if it got to that level of severity then the decision to play wouldn't be in your hands because you'd be unable to move, so there's no danger of him being out for an extended period, whatever happens here. This is clearly a minor strain. I think he just needs maybe a full week to two weeks off for it to heal completely, which isn't long but at the same time isn't a luxury that he's going to be afforded at a slam.

So many comments on this dull procession between Painkillerovic and a lost gen lost gen’ing hard, you all need to switch this off and go and watch the GOAT doing his thing on the other court ASAP
The GOAT isn't on my TV unfortunately

Yea it's a minor strain. It just isn't getting any better because he's not letting it rest and heal, like you said. As long as he's not at risk of causing a tear, I say play through it. It can't be very serious if he's willing to play through it.

I say if he has to risk RG, go for it. Let Nadal and the youngsters duke it out. RG is not a priority at this point in his career. This Slam is much more important.
RG is months away anyway. He will be fine by then. The concept of ending or even skipping a Slam to be fit for another one sounds "smart" for some people, but it's rather baseless speculation. You can lose both Slams then, just like you may even win both when you take a "risk".

I hated it when Federer skipped RG 2017 and don't believe for a second he wouldn't have won Wimbledon otherwise, as great as his was on grass that year. I don't like such an approach anyway, so I was almost happy to some degree that it didn't work in 2018, so that he was back on the clay in 2019.

Yea it's the AO, his best Slam. You have to take the risk and go for it as long as you're not at risk of a tear or something. With this draw, you have to.

Yea but he was so fresh for 2017 Wimbledon. It was his goal and he achieved it. I think it cost Federer the YE #1 but I get why he did it.

In team sports, players play all the time with minor to moderate hamstring issues. The problem is that they play worse than usual when they do that and sometimes they pull up with a more serious injury.

You guys watching Murray put RBA on string? Lol
He'll win this in 19 hours. Then he'll win the next match until February and finish his QF match by next year's edition.

But seriously Murray's got a really good draw until the SF, if he somehow manages to get out of this alive and have something left in the tank. Probably his last good chance for a major SF.

Yeah I agree. It's definitely worth playing on here. I thought after the second set against Couacaud that it would continue to deteriorate so I was in two minds about it at that point but he's clearly able to run pretty hard when required and it doesn't look like it's going to get a whole lot worse than it has been for these past two matches. He'll regret not giving it his best shot against this wasteland of a field.

So much toxicity in this thread. I honestly believe for a lot of Nadal fans if they were granted just one wish it wouldn't be for continued good health for their loved ones or a lottery win or world peace but simply for Djokovic to not win this year's Australian Open. I mean how sad is that?!
That’s great you can mind read.
