Btw I’m gonna say this now as someone who was worried about the hamstring - Djokovic’s movement has been great. Maybe not fully 100% but excellent for any other player. Great defense tonight. Which makes it even more baffling why he has so many UEs and looks so weird from the baseline. But I think the hamstring is fine and that is very bad news for the Greek.

His plan is to beat Djokovic from 2 sets down like Melzer and send Djokovic into another 1.5 year slump. He's trying to save his whole generation.
Ummmm.... here's Djokovic's 2010 after the Melzer loss:
-SF of Wimby
-F of USO, including the prototypical 40-15 in the semis
-SF of the WTF
-Won Davis cup to start his win streak that extended into 2011
-And then there's 2011...
So all in all hardly half a year which wasn't too bad at all considering Fedal + the field, followed up by 2011. That'd hardly equate to Tommy saving his generation lol

This is how the 1st set should have went. Novak looked very agitated for most of the match and he has no reason. This is basically a bye for him.

Paul is also a much better defender than Rublev and it's showing, Novak's can't just attack freely and blow him off the court with pace, but just beats him with consistency

Ah, my mistake. I got his 09 and 10 RG losses mixed up.

He was never injured.

His injuries are vastly exaggerated. I’m not saying they don’t exist, I’m saying he really makes a big drama out of these manageable niggles.

Novaks injury is the real winner today. Seems like he doesn’t need to do much but watch Tommy implode with errors

Hamstring has been fine for a while now

After 2 sets I expected Djokoer to lose 6 games or less but not in the manner he has. He has looked tired - rusty and unhappy out there.

But perhaps this is the 1 bad match for the tournament he sometimes has.

It's going to be such a shame if he never returns to his best level. He really evolved into an unbelievable player and played great matches on the big stages against the big 3 (but also against the top players of his generation).
He looks done. I hope not though.

Looked. First set was shiiiit. Looking and playing great since

“Djokovic’s most dominant AO in terms of games and sets won”

even when Djoko plays bad here he still beasts on the important points. You can barely get games from him. It's funny how selective people are. One terrible set and this is suddenly the worst Djoko ever lol. In the 2nd set he made 4 errors. You will never see 25 errors from Djoko in a set ever again.

America has 330 million people, a GS tournament, many masters tournaments and tennis courts of all kinds, the most famous tennis academies, many many rich people and millionaires and yet somehow they can't produce a decent player in men's competition. How come?
