3rd meeting between these two in 5 weeks or so.
Alcaraz won both of them, albeit the one in Rio was a close contest.

How do you see this matchup playing out?
Does Alcaraz roll or will he have to go through a dogfight or will Dusan pull of an upset?

Discuss and vote

Lajovic is playing well considering he put out Andy and Maxime who are usually out of his league. Carlos should prevail but given his opponent’s form it may not be straightforward. Hopefully I am wrong.

Nah don’t see the upset coming here today. The only persons who I see upsetting Carlos at this tournament are potentially Tommy Paul and Jannik Sinner

I think Carlos defends his title here easily, probably won't even drop a set.
I dont think it will be that easy. He nearly lost a set to a poor serving Sinner. Sinner enjoys the conditions in Miami so it will be very very interesting. Same for Tommy Paul, he trains in Florida

Like Sinner did last time they met ?

Nothing against Sinner but he always seems to find a way to lose.
He's not going to worry " the greatest young player since Nadal " - TM TTW.

That's a bold take I'd say, but he definitely has a big chance of pulling off the sunshine double which nobody has been able to do since Roger did it in 2017.
If he catches Sinner on a day where sinner is serving good, his run may end at the Semifinals. Alcaraz served 72% serves in and won 74/144 points (51%), while Sinner serving poorly at 50% serves in won 70/144 points (49%). Clearly this match would’ve been a different result had it been a better serving day for Sinner and also a faster court. I’m gonna pick Sinner to have the best chance of ending his run at the Semifinals.

Sinner tends to have those types of serving days almost every time he plays a top player.

Let’s see but the pattern is showing so yes. The last match where he served well against a top player was Tsitsipas at the AO where I believe he served about 67% serves in. So let’s see if it’s psychological against Alcaraz.

Sinner is definitely a tough matchup for Alcaraz, but if you talk about low % of first serves, its something he always does against top players as he goes for too much.

Also, most of these stats are skewed due to first set in which Sinner was the better player by a considerable margin but Alcaraz stole it in a Djokovic-esque fashion in the breaker.

Man he is delivering bagels right and left, this is not serious anymore, he is in a different league

Still he is very error-prone. This number of UFEs would hurt him against Novak.
What are you talking about? This season he is having less unforced than even players that play defense, have you watched him this season at all?

Just unplayable, he plays in ****ng matrix, like 2 steps ahead all the time, lajovic isnt playing bad
