What an insane point to start the 6-5 game… elite movement from both guys, and yet somehow, the 36 year old is the one to come out on top. Tennis requires gymnast level agility mixed with surgeon level precision - the best guys are all jungle cats and this is no exception.

Since when did Rune have this good of a serve? He's been so solid on serve so far, it's quite impressive.

Break him Novak!

Watch him. He has a great serve and his knee bend is even deeper with Boris. He was serving 135+ in Basel and earlier in this tournament.

Rune level just a slightly bit higher overall than Novak in that set but Djokovic winning the most important points as usual.

Did anyone catch that cheeky knowing smile from Novak as he sat down? The guy knows how good he is, that was such a great way to break too, the deep hitting and the volleys to finish it!

So what is the current ranking year end number 1 situation? Like what does Djokovic need to do to put it beyond Alcaraz or is the latter's possible injury basically made it a moot point?

The 1st set was pretty well played from both guys. Rune is already playing better and Becker has only been there a couple of weeks. He could be quite dangerous next year.
I agree. Rune has lots of talent. If he can improve mentally and physically under Becker he can be a real threat in future years.

I haven't watched any of this match except the last few points, so I'm just popping in to say something snide about Rune.

Double fault and easy forehand tamely put into the net and 0-30. Chance for Rune here?

Followed by a poor shot hit miles wise. 0-40. 3 BP chances for Rune!
