Remove the 1st Set,
Rune had 43 winners, 29 unforced errors.
Ruud had 30 winners, 19 unforced errors.

Lol. You do know he lost 2 out of 3 sets if we look away from the first?
I can understand if Casper's game isn't everyone's cup of tea, but just like his mentor, it's a game style that draws out errors, both forced and unforced. The thing is, that a lot of the errors categorized as unforced are in fact a result of prolonged rallies hitting the ball way out of one's comfort zone. Thinking these stats show that Rune is the better player and Casper just got lucky, is pretty mind boggling.

Right winner in the end. Curious to hear Rune's take on the first two.

4th was anyone's game, but Ruud stepped up, came much more to the net and got hos forehand with more authority

Blnt Rune. Hoping for Ruud in the final

Curious to hear Rune's take on the first two.

tell me about it....maybe some Shapo herbal remedy issue

That poster is obsessed with Rune just like dking is obsessed with Sinner.

Let them dream and not destroy their lalaland fantasies :)

That's fine you don't like it, but it won't change the fact that a LOT of language is used colloquially - by everyone. And I agree it can be a problem if people aren't on the same page as to the specific colloquialism. But sometimes they are. Words do have meaning for a reason - to communicate ideas clearly. It's not uncommon - at all - for colloquial language to communicate an idea clearly. And again, that's not to deny that there are times when it doesn't communicate ideas clearly because not everyone in a community or other spaces is on the same page.
Hey, if you want to laugh while the world burns, have at it. If you think Idiocracy looks like a good future to live in, enjoy it.

Meanwhile, it isn't common to use "charisma" incorrectly colloquially. If you wanted to mention "literally," you could, but nobody is using charisma (incorrectly) in every other sentence.

West Ham win the conference league FFS lol

Never watching football again
Well, unlike Sevilla, they really did get the result gifted from the referee.

This match confirmed my view that Rune is the most overrated player and Ruud is the most underrated player on these forums.

Rune definitely has time to improve but nothing about his game made me think he was a favorite at RG. In fact the moment he struggled against Eubanks in the first round was when the hype train should have parked at the station .

Holger will still be chasing Nadal's RG record when he's 65 y/o.
He should forget about Nadal and RG altogether and shift his focus to Wimbledon and the US Open. His groundstrokes, serve and net skills will help him greatly at those events. On clay I feel like too many of his peers hit way heavier than he does.

He's still young. He needs to work on his stamina and focus. He has the skills to be good on all surfaces, but hopefully he can do it sooner rather than later. It would be boring to have Alcaraz winning everything without competition.

I guess it's back to "oh no, I'm not his/her coach, I'm just a consultant" for The Coach.
This guy is running the most successful grift in the sport.

Rather than tear Rune down, why not give Ruud credit for having played a superb match? In another thread, I wondered what kind of strategic moves Ruud's team might make, and whether he could carry them out. Item #1 was to attack the Rune FH, stretch him out and open up the backhand. The longer the point went on, it seemed to benefit Ruud, so he ran down everything. One item I thought Ruud illustrated to us hackers is the age-old adage: always try to make your opponent hit one more shot (no matter how desperate the attempt is) to win the point. Even WC players can miss the easy ones, and Rune's embarrassment was apparent more than once.

TTW take:
Rune - amazing, next big thing, gonna win, etc (nearly gets knocked out to journeyman, gets mauled for 2 sets by Ruud)
Ruud - fraud, hopeless, overachiever, vulture (on the cusp of making 3 of the last 5 slam finals, made WTF final).
Not everyone underrates Ruud on here. I’ve been saying he is a strong player for a while now.

Casper Ruud - future Slam winner who will make some noise next year.

Ruud is always under-rated on this forum. He has one of the best FHs on tour and just made two Slam finals. I would make a Tier 2 with Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas and Ruud. Others are Tier 3 and I would add Hurkacz, Berrettini and Fritz to this tier.

If I had to trust one of them to win a match where the outcome mattered to me and the surface is unknown, I would pick Ruud. So, I consider him better as a tennis player.

He is under-rated on TTW because he lost to Nadal easily in the FO final and praises Nadal so much which rubs the fans of Nadal’s rivals the wrong way. If you watch him play live, he moves very well with great footwork and he has monster topspin on his shots. Kyrgios has no chance against him on clay while Ruud will lose on grass. On hard courts, I would take Ruud over Kyrgios because you will get better effort more consistently from Ruud.

Ruud is a very good player who deserves his ranking and will continue to do well in big tournaments including winning some in the future. His movement is very good and he has monster topspin which is particularly good on slow courts. I think if he starts hitting a bit harder in terms of shot speed, he is going to be even better. Hope he gets a coach who pushes him to be more aggressive.

Fans of Djokovic and Federer make up 2/3rds of the posters here and they don’t like Ruud because he is such a big Nadal fan and also somewhat of a clay court oriented player.

Why are some celebs/media so hellbent to whitewash Rune? Seems like some sponsor money being pushed to make him look better than he is…
