Oh Shapo.....where have you gone?
He's been this way for years, it's nothing new. He actually wisely tried to dial down the speed of his wild groundstrokes in the second set. It worked for awhile but it's not his comfort zone to think maturely or construct points with any consistency.

Carlos is so much wiser out there, despite his youth. And he's simply the much better player.

He cannot help but just go all out all the time, he deserves to lose every time. He has all the shots in the book, but not a single functioning brain cell that has the battery power needed to work for more than 20 minutes.

For me, that was the most impressive set he’d played all tournament. Sure, the 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 demolition jobs are fun, but when your back is against the wall, your opponent in the zone, that’s when champions are made. From 4-1 down he was virtually flawless and destroyed Shapo in all aspects of the game.

The kid is just oozing with confidence.

Good luck trying to beat him for 3 of those.

Random question but is the Babolat Pure Aero VS / 98 even a good racket? I don't hear much about it from rec players but it seems a lot of pros use it

Moose is going to get it done.

Is it me or has Shapo double faulted his way into literally every break so far?

That’s 5 times where a double fault either brought up BP or was the actual BP by my count

Especially impressed with those ridiculous topspin groundies. Thought I was watching Rafa himself for a while.

Woah, relax. That was a standard ATP volley. I've seen about 10 of those today. He's good, but people need to stop exaggerating some normal things he does.
The shot was standard, the awkward position he came from to hit it that sweetly was not.

Smart play from Alcaraz - he has that innate ability to read a game better than most of the other young players. Still has things to improve upon, but he is going to be tough to knock out.
