Mandlik looked like world beater last August in San Jose. I watched a couple of her matches live where she beat Jil one L and Riske before taking a set off the Still-Good Badosa. She did not have any flair. Just bad days from the from her opponents I guessed… she’s a long way from surging to top 50, if ever.I see Towsend and Mandlik have made it through qualies. Confession - I've never seen Madlik play. I really only know of her and follow her results because of her mother. Does she have any of Hana's flair?
I think Shaui Zhang's time might be up sadly.
Kostyuk started great but just not consistant enough. Sabalenka looks great though.
She was talking to the umpire not Kostyuk.I think the two are having words but my stream cut out.
Kostyuk walked straight to the chair ump, shook his hand, then walked to her spot. Sabalenka did the same then did a half curtsy then it looked like she was talking to Kostyuk.

Nah she wasn't not annoyed about the handshake which as you said, we were expecting, she was concerned the booing was for her but after finding out it wasn't she was all good.Sabalenka definitely pissed about no handshake. She was expecting it after all.
Saba played great and I have more understanding towards her too...
They're tennis players, not soldiers or politicians. Relax.
True.Yeah, well, some of them don’t seem to get that.
Agree she is way above her ranking suggests and was a finalist just 4 years ago, can't be overlooked. But her draw is tough. Drawn one of the favourites for the title Ostapenko in the 3R. And that's not even acknowledging #9 Kasatkina in the 2R. Then the 4R is a bunch of options from #5 Garcia, last years SFist Trevisan or recent title winner and former #3 Svitolina. The biggest sleeper in the draw for me is Marketa Vondrousova. The rankings have her 60th in the world, but she's absolutely one of the world's 15 best players IMO. I expect her to make a fairly deep run in this tournament.
Has been an insane roller coaster of a match. This feels like a 3rd set TB written all over itSakkari v Muchova next.
Muchova beat Sakkari here at RG last year in the 2R in straight sets.
With Maria often being such a headcase, dare I say Karolina is actually the favourite?
