While watching Alexandrova versus Tsurenko (Alexandrova just took the first set 6-1, she has been playing about the level she can but Tsurenko has been pretty bad and I'm sure MTO or w/o is just around the corner. :D ) a thought hit me that didn't Tsurenko use to play doubles too some years ago, and didn't she have Russian partners and maybe even Alexandrova? Checked and she did and had played and with Russian partners and even one Ekaterina (Bychkova) but not with Alexandrova. Still I wonder if Ukrainian player has played doubles with a Russian and they meet in singles, will she still refuse the handshake? Do any of you know if this scenario has already happened?

Jennifer Brady is like a female DelPotro. Just punishes the ball. Good win last night.
'Jennifer Brady' and 'female' in the same sentence is a bit too out-of-reality-stuff for me, sorry!

Alexandrova had "easy day at the office" beating Tsurenko 6-1, 6-3. The latter played poor match, one or two good games in the 2nd set. No handshake (but no MTO or w/o either :D ).

What makes you think anyone here is interested in your thoughts? Do us all a favor and stop posting.

^ And exactly what "very worthwhile" you have posted here except whining about something you didn't even point out?

Ok, I know it's about Brady. I know there are many that see the thing the way I see. But I had had my fun considering the matter and will concentrate on tennis from now on. Hope you do too.

Aryna didn’t screw around, holds at love.

Dig her pink Nike kit.

And as a double bonus, she will play Burel instead of Pliskova. You can get 18/1 on Juvan beating Swiatek in Rd 3, and I imagine it will be something similiar for Burel v Sabalenka.

Hard to see Pliskova getting back to where she was at one point. The game seems to have moved on and left her behind.

Svitolina/Pavs is so good not necessarily because of the tennis but we have the two aussies on the call Darren and Renee and the ladies seem like they have some kind of personal beef. I love watching Pavs play, something about it is so old school to me.

Ha, I’ve got Laura Robson.

^ I've been made "low class" by the "better people" in the World/my society but I'm really curious what the five stars might include?!

P.S. You got decent humor for low IQ person. (y)

When I first took notice of Ostapenko, I really liked her. If I'm being honest, it was mostly for her looks (I thinks she's super attractive), but her personality was fun as well.

Then, while she was really struggling, she started to turn me off. Personality is fine, but it was getting ridiculous with the complaining about line calls when she was obviously wrong. No other player behaves this way on either tour, save for Raducanu to some extent (when she actually plays).

Lately, though, I'm coming back around. The fun side of her personality is starting to come through again. As for your list, I wouldn't call her "chubby." She has a certain body type, and it's actually pretty amazing and hot when it isn't being covered with the awful clothes she picks out. And while her serve can be powerful, I wouldn't call it "great," since it isn't very consistent, nor would I say she has a particularly "excellent" touch, just pretty good (likely because she plays a lot of doubles).

Yes, much better than Serena (and Townsend), but still not at the level of Andreescu. No, Bianca didn't have a kid, but she wore that outfit and it was insanely good on her.

Honestly, this match was beyond boring. Zero excitement or enthusiasm being generated. Another terrible show for the night session. And to think Kvitova was complaining about the general crowd noise... Maybe if the match was a little more interesting, people might have tried to pay attention.

High IQ tennis? Did you miss all of those random, tepid forehand slices that Gauff was throwing in? And no, they weren't tactical. They were 'too tired to get into position to hit a proper forehand,' or 'not confident to hit a proper forehand right now' shots. Plus, as I said about Alcaraz, hitting at drop shot when your opponent is really far behind the baseline or off-court isn't exactly some super genius, high IQ move. It's pretty simple and obvious.

As for Andreeva, she seems mature when things are going well and she is winning (and in her interviews), but as soon as the going gets tough and she falls behind, she looks very much like a junior player that needs to mature. A lot...
It’s an interesting take, but I’m not sure I would consider the forehand slices as representations of Gauff’s tennis IQ - negative or positive. That to me seemed more representative of the fact that she was in such a comfort zone in the match that she was trying things out.

She is still so young that there are elements she is adding to her game that need to be tested in match conditions.

Sometimes the slice worked, and shortened the point with efficiency, sometimes it didn’t work and actually neutralised the advantage she had. These are all data points that Gauff is soaking up like a sponge at the moment, under the careful tuteledge of Brad Gilbert.

For me, the smartest thing Gauff did against Andreeva was took Andreeva’s best shot (the off backhand) into Gauff’s worst side (forehand) and turned it to her advantage in the match.

And yes, Andreeva seems very mature but she can really drop her bundle sometimes. I think you need to remember that she is literally a kid being thrown into an acute professional sports setting, and that sometimes she might react like most kids would. The Wimbledon tantrum stands out, although many would argue (myself included) that the turf abuse decision against Andreeva was unfair.

Kasatkina gets the break. She hit an amazing drop shot in that game. She's definitely more focused than in the first set but still a bit inconsistent. Go Dasha!

Kasatkina's second round match against Kenin is playing out just like her first round match against Parks - a really poor first set followed by a more focused second set - and the scoreline is identical so far: 2-6, 6-4.

Jabeur barely eeks out the first set tiebreaker 9-7. It's just the first set but feels like life and death.

Given Kenin's bizarro serve of not looking at where she's going to serve, it seems like an opponent could take advantage of that and switch positions during her ball toss and surprise Kenin.

what do you expect a high IQ to do on those occasions lol.
I'd expect them to understand the basics of grammar...

Get in, Katie! What a win. She's having such a great year.

Top 50 debut after this tournament.
Yeah, she's taking advantage of some unbelievably friendly draws. Some of the names in the second round were painfully for someone like me who supports Giorgi, and had to see her draw Pegula in the first round. She would destroy any player with a British flag next to her name, and yet here we are...

A second 3R at a major in a row. She will want to make this her first 4R. If she does, I'd have expected that to come at Wimbledon but this would be a nice surprise. Next up she has a home player in Stearns... Not sure who I fancy for that one as Stearns' momentum was cut short earlier this year with the parasite she acquired.
See above. I expect Stearns to take care of her, unless the occasion gets to her nerves. Boulter looks like your typical 45 year old woman down at the club...

I'm not sure if she was deliberately trying something out, unless Gilbert wanted her to add some more "junk" to her game (which is entirely possible). It just seemed to me that she was getting tired in those rallies, and decided to dare her young opponent to try and go big off of those slices. And hey, it worked more often than not, so can't fault her for that. But I'm just not sold on that match being some display of "tennis IQ." (And as an aside, I'm not so sold on the "tennis IQ" concept in general, which I've said numerous times with regard to Alcaraz. A lot of these shots are simply reactionary, or doing the obvious thing in a fairly straightforward situation).

As for Andreeva, I'm not criticizing her for her mental lapses, just pointing out that they are real. It's understandable at her age. On the Wimbledon incident, though, while it might have seemed a little harsh, it was a fair call. It was definitely deliberate, and it wasn't a great look for her to have tried to lie about it.

This match has been a lot of fun. Everything that Wozniacki vs Kvitova was lacking.

Kennin is playing really well, and it seems like she might be able to regain her old form. She's still pretty young, but she does seem injured a lot (MTO right now).
Wish it was available on ESPN+, but noooo, it's paywalled on ESPN3. God I hate the state of tennis streaming in the USA.
Yeah, the ESPN situation is really a joke. Luckily I'm able to get the regular channels through a relative's account, while only paying for Plus, but it's insane that paying for ESPN Plus doesn't get you every match on demand.

Kasatkina hitting first serves at 60mph right now, wow. And some second serves so slow the machine is not even registering.

And she still has an atrocious 9 double faults. But at least she destroyed that Kenin moonball and got out of that service game so hopefully Kenin stops using that tactic.

Well, the problem is partly exactly that she has no faith in her serve at all so she's trying to push it in and that causes double faults in itself.
