Elena knows ball. Another reason to like her.
Poor umpire. She was put under too much pressure from Gauff and finally gave one point penalty.
Gauffs behaviour was pathetic. Serving when opponent wasn't ready and urguing with umpire over not getting that point
And laughing when siegmund gets warning and point penalty. And finally mocking her opponent in post match interview.
Her opponent took more time but nothing compared to what Nadal takes
That was pathetic from the German player. You can slow down the game on your own serve, but you can’t slow it down on your opponent’s serve. If the server is ready, she has to be ready too. Unless your name is Nadal or Swiatek, you should not be allowed to slow down the server. Only those two should be allowed to do it.Poor umpire. She was put under too much pressure from Gauff and finally gave one point penalty.

Not exactly, the server can serve only when the returner is ready. The umpire must stop the server if he/she sees that the returner is not ready to play. That was pathetic from the German player. Gauf's opponent was constantly late with her serves. Overall though, an exciting match by both.Yeah. Why is it bad to wait for the serve clock but it's supposed to be okay to rush your opponent while serving like what Gauff was doing?
This. The entitled attitude and classless Gilbert influence is going to cost Coco. I dont believe this behavior is what she really is. It's being pushed by others.Poor umpire. She was put under too much pressure from Gauff and finally gave one point penalty.

Or one can wait a few seconds moreThat was pathetic from the German player. You can slow down the game on your own serve, but you can’t slow it down on your opponent’s serve. I tend to agree, but I found the timing bizarre. She did it up 3-0 in the third. She should have done it much earlier (like in the first game of the second set). She waited too long and then picked the wrong time.Concerning that even after the drama, Gauff let 5-1 in the final set become 5-4. She was right to bring it up with the umpire but one of the commentators questioned the impact it would have going forward and I tend to agree I think being stone cold and focussing solely on the task in hand may have been a better strategy.
Right, I wouldn't diss her. I saw her play twice from the 1st row in the Chicago heat last week and is superstrong. Great baseliner that can really flatten it out, 115 mph serve, great at coming into the neat, etc..Could you please explain what you meant when you said:
"Masarova is jacked as **** no surprise"
I don't understand that and I'm sure others don't as well.
Was Brengle in her yoga leggings?Wow, Lindy (Noskova) sure had a "on" day and in very quick manner finishes Madison Brengle off 6-2, 6-1.
Stevenson is terrible. Can't stand her voice and she doesn't contribute anything interesting. The announcing combination of Shriver and Stevenson has to be worst ever, unlistenable.
Alexandrova a bit of a brainless basher (really good slice serves though), but will be pulling for her over Fraudnandez.
The only match I'll ever watch with Bouz in it will be some final with someone I like.Ever watch a match and wonder how someone won it, in straight sets no less? Thats how I feel about Bouzkova right now.

I used to be a fan of hers, but after that doubles incident it's game over for me with her.
There was absolutely no excuse for her atrocious behavior on that fateful day.
Whenever she plays I get out my voodoo doll.
I can't stand that stuff, and while you see it in a few WTA players, Swiatek is the absolute worst for it. Her opponent hits a good shot, and she acts like the entire planet has conspired against her to make her lose a point unfairly. Is she really so oblivious to the concept that her opponents are professional players and can, on occasion, hit a winner against her? WTF? So childish and bad.Coco needs to get over the despondent reaction. She gets too upset when she does something wrong or her opponent does something good.
I was wondering that too. But, either way, it looked really petty and silly of Coco to complain about it to the chair umpire. ESPECIALLY because she was eating a damn snack out of a Tupperware container as she complained. I mean, seriously? You are going to complain about someone sitting down for 30 seconds while you are eating a freaking snack? You can't sit down on a 1-0 changeover? Is that in the rulebook?
Honestly, what is the deal with this sport? The serve clock is so poorly implemented that it really does seem like a joke. WAY too much discretion. Make the thing 5-10 seconds longer, and make it automatically start as soon as the previous point ends. And if the server's racquet doesn't touch the ball before it runs out, automatic warning/penalty...The shot clock not actually functioning like a shot clock remains an all time piece of trollery.
Yeah, Coco acting like a bratty junior isn't going to win her any fans. She's been on the tour long enough now to know better. And laughing when siegmund gets warning and point penalty. And finally mocking her opponent in post match interview.
Again, I don't understand this sport. Do you play at the server's pace or not? And doesn't that mean that the server should be free to serve whenever they are ready, and the opponent must adapt to it? That's the only way that makes any sense. Not exactly, the server can serve only when the returner is ready. The umpire must stop the server if he/she sees that the returner is not ready to play.
Nah, it's not Gilbert that is the problem. He's only been working with her for a month. This stuff comes from a deeper place.This. The entitled attitude and classless Gilbert influence is going to cost Coco. I dont believe this behavior is what she really is. It's being pushed by others.
I don’t follow those kinds of things, but I did notice that very quickly.Too bad Leylah couldn't come back to beat Alex. She made it close.
No one answered my question in the Fernandez thread about this.
She has made some big changes to her service motion.
One change is she no longer grounds her non-hitting hand to the racket before tossing the ball.
Do you know of any other player on tour who doesn't ground their racket before the toss?
Why should she know that stat off the top of her head? 4-4 vs. 4-3 is pretty close. Not familiar with her history, why would you call her a dirtbag?Dirtbag Petkovic just said during the broadcast that her head to head with Giorgi was even, "5-5 or 4-4 or something..." Was she too embarrassed to admit Giorgi has the edge on her, 4-3?
Garcia's ranking is going to crash worse than the stock market in the great depression after this tournamentI decided to scout Boulter's next opponent and err I don't think it will be Caroline Garcia.
Garcia DF on match point, lost to Yifan Wang in 4:6 1:6
I'm happy Boulter won her match and am glad to see she'll have a chance to get to the 3rd round.I decided to scout Boulter's next opponent and err I don't think it will be Caroline Garcia.
It's a personal issue I have with her (or more specifically, her boyfriend), dating back to the 2019 Bronx open and her match against Giorgi (where I was in attendance). It was a really tough match and I'm sure she hasn't forgotten it (and the loss to Giorgi). And she seems like the type that remembers a lot of stuff, and she should remember someone having an edge, as opposed to being even. It was also said in a way as if to imply, 'yeah, Giorgi is really good, but I was even to her.'Why should she know that stat off the top of her head? 4-4 vs. 4-3 is pretty close. Not familiar with her history, why would you call her a dirtbag?
Golden chance for both Boulter and Wang, and it's a coin toss based on what I saw today. Boulter will have top 50 on the lineI'm happy Boulter won her match and am glad to see she'll have a chance to get to the 3rd round.
The good thing with having a ton of WTA faves is that if one or more lose you've got so many back-ups.![]()
