Congrats Novak, well played.

Sad to see Meddy fall apart like that in the third, especially how he was one good point away from winning the second.

Maybe after this win you will show some respect to Djokovic. Better luck next time to Medvedev.
Of course. But if you told me Medvedev was going to play the final by standing 100 feet back and leaving the whole court open for Djokovic to dictate and put away easy volleys, I'd have picked Djokovic in 4 sets. LOL
Now Djoker needs 1 more to erase Margaret Court from tennis history.

Words can't describe how ecstatic I am right now and knowing how much Fedal fans will be hurting makes it taste all the more sweet haha. :giggle:

Congrats to Novak and his team on #24 and idemo!!!! :)

I'm probably p@ssing in the wind here, but please don't put all of us in the same boat. Federer will always be my favourite player, as a fan I went through many ups and downs, but it was worth it.
With that said, Novak deserves every accolade as the best player in the modern era IMO, and it's hard to argue against him being the GOAT. You cannot argue the numbers.
And what's more, he stood his ground re. his health and the entire Covid debacle.
(Note: Medvedev, what a class act. Shame there had to be a loser today.)

After watching this final, it greatens Alcaraz's epic win at Wimbledon.
As a Federer fan, I cannot complain neither celebrated, but thank you, Carlitos.

Finally Alcaraz will be forgoten for a while.
It was just too much hype.
First get to double digits and then speak.
I am so sad I opened that Ben Shelton thread. rofl

Novak is the true Ultron of tennis. Nadal&Novak&Fed will be forever the goats no mather who comes or goes.

But he used the same return position vs Alcaraz except for Alcaraz it worked for only a set.

Put Medvedev as Djokovic's opponent in the semifinals and you would realize that the champion would be different.
:D

You might be right, but we'll never know. Would have loved to see a Djoko Alcaraz repeat, but Alcaraz made his fair share of bad decisions in the semi!

This match was much closer than the score. He was really right there and chose the wrong shot.

No no no.

It was clear as day - all night long that Meddy has no tools.

He has “a” tool. Hit it back in baseline rallies.

By and large he stayed away from sharp angles or DTL kill shots - something he could have tried -but his only apparent strategy was to tire Novak out by hitting it back to him.

Novak is no Federer in terms of variation, but he has many more tools than Meddy.

This match was only a question of if Novak was going to be rested and healthy.

He was.
