No no no.

It was clear as day - all night long that Meddy has no tools.

He has “a” tool. Hit it back in baseline rallies.

By and large he stayed away from sharp angles or DTL kill shots - something he could have tried -but his only apparent strategy was to tire Novak out by hitting it back to him.

Novak is no Federer in terms of variation, but he has many more tools than Meddy.

This match was only a question of if Novak was going to be rested and healthy.

He was.
This plan might've worked if Djokovic was coming off an exhausting 5 set war in the semifinals. But Djokovic was fresh as a daisy.

You might be right, but we'll never know. Would have loved to see a Djoko Alcaraz repeat, but Alcaraz made his fair share of bad decisions in the semi!
Beyond that, Medvedev, Zverev and Sinner were on Alcaraz's side, the best players of the moment, while Djokovic's rival on his side was worth it?

I didn’t word that the best. I meant that he was right there to at least win a set hah

In less than 100 years, everyone on this forum along with all the current tennis players will all be dead.
So in the grand scheme of things, nothing really matters.
Nope. They’ll be talking about Djokovic like they do Court on this forum. It’s sad really but that’s life

Medvedev needs to be pushed out of his hotel window. Maybe that will knock some sense into him and he'll finally hire a real coach.

I can’t wrap my head around how he’s actually further away from the field now than he ever has been.
Some of us have been trying to say that he's not declining at all. Yes the field isn't as strong as it was and he had a fortunate draw and was fortunate to not draw Alcaraz who certainly would have presented more problems than Medvedev but he's still near peak form and doesn't show any signs whatsoever of slowing down. It's getting beyond remarkable at this point, what he's doing at this age is unprecedented not only in tennis but in all of sports.

That 2nd set was really critical, 3 key instances
3-4 break point and Djokovic plays an insane serve volley winner
5-6 bp and set point, Djokovic again with S&V, Medvedev has open shot down the line but goes cross court with Djokovic there to volley for the winner
Tie break 4-5 Djokovic after losing exhausting 4-4 point, goes all in on CC beckhand forcing an error out of Medvedev.

Who knows what happens if Medvedev won the 2nd set, especially after Djokovic fumbled a Wimbledon final being a set up and having a set point.

This final showed me one thing. Djokovic has trouble when going through back to back exhausting matches. The joke of a draw was crucial for him to win this title.
Put some real competition on his side of the draw and he was going to have all sorts of difficulty to find the reserves to win.
It should've been Zverev, Medvedev, and Alcaraz in his path to the title.
