Djokovic trying to distract people from the approx. 20 minutes of choking he did before the TB - he was not the same after he lost two 30-shot rallies to Shelton of all people bailing out with bad drop shots both times.

He looks great in general, but he also choked in the Wimbledon 2nd set TB on the cusp of winning and also on BP in the fifth set. Chinks in the mental armor of the old Chjoker?

People like Nadal or Monfils had lot of energy on court but did you find them doing silly gestures post match or even during the match taunting opponents or trying to look smug ?
Thats why Shelton is a punk that needs to be schooled
We live in an era where 18-25 year olds are the more arrogant than their previous generations at that age, it is time people need to be taught that seniors need to be respected. This whole cool dude gimmick looks stupid when you have achieved nothing in life, thats what Shelton needs to learn.
They were celebrating in their own ways, i personally dont find sheltons celebrations offensive, he doesnt evendirect them to the oponent, have youlisgened to him talk? He obviously is a verygrounded young guy, he looks respectful with everybody, even with the people holding the door for him, you should check thst out before thinking he is arrogant because of a celebration that was directed ho his friends.

About young people, man it has always been like that, its natural and definetly not a thing from this era, some are more respectfuk than others, thats all.

Good lord I got brain rot reading that. Thread is officially cooked

You didn't get brain rot when Shelton did that to Tiafoe, why so ?

Tiafoe is 4-5 years older to Shelton and that means senior to him on tour, if a 20 yr old who has won nothing can disrespect a guy 5 years older to him (who should be like his big brother) then it is time some elders taught him some manners.... good that Novak took the initiative

Think the issue with that shorter top spin ball, players tend to move in a step too slow and that shot has to be a finishing shot since they are in no man's land.
Of course its still an easy shot for any pro.

Federer short slice was a masterful shot that lured players in with no real options to attack it.
that's it exactly. you get lulled into that rhythmic baseline exchange, slow to react to the short ball, and they wind up letting it drop too low and blasting it long or otherwise flub it. ever since i started paying attention to it, can't stop noticing how often it winds up ending the point.

It's his gesture for saying he's dialed in, he's mentioned this several times in pressers and interviews. He's not hanging up on anyone, it's not a finishing move from mortal kombat haha. He's close pals with Foe so he wouldn't be so brazen and disrespectful to do such a thing.

It's funny how Djo is allow to "roar" and shout at big points but whenever it's someone else they need to be humbled.

We sure beg to have these so called saviours of tennis but they must walk such a fine line to appease the gods of tennis otherwise they're of ill repute.

I saw his presser after Foe.

He sounds like a mature 20 year old w a great attitude. Not a hint of a Kyrgios / Tomic / old jMac deal.

Just don’t get the gestures. But maybe as some have said - I’m interrupting them wrong.

Roaring is a natural release of emotions after the adrenaline.

Federer himself used to "roar"

Oh sorry I thought I might have been talking to an adult but now I see I'm talking to a child who is going on about 'wokes' and a clash of civilisations.
Awesome comeback mate, you’d do great in Ben’s circle of friends, talking about boomers not getting your sensibilities.

The phone celebration mockery, not great... Bad vibes. Granted, the kid's phone celebration after beating Tiafoe was a bit cringe and disrespectful towards his countryman, but I think it mainly came from a place of joy and good energy. I don't really see why Novak felt like he had to do this, it just lowers him. Unless I missed something during the match? Sure, Shelton is expressive, but I feel it stayed respectful and appropriate. EDIT: was Shelton really eyeballing Novak, or was he simply looking at his camp?

Djoker aparently did too, or maybe secretly he just loved the celebration and now wants to steal it xD

His shot tolerance hasn't been as good in long extended rallies as in the past. That's why Medvedev has a bit of success against him.

It's a good response for me, if Ben doesn't find his own celebration disrespectful he has nothing to be upset about, if he does well, maybe its time for some introspection.
I think this is the best take on the celebration I’ve read so far. Wish I could like it twice

I don't like his attitude precisely because of things like this. I always spoke well of his game dating way back to when I joined in 2010.

Keep on missing the point. People, a surprisingly large number of people given how good he is, don't like his attitude.

Apparently it's just a big mystery to Djokovic fans.
Does it really matter? No one cares about Connors or McEnroe or Lendl's attitudes today, and at least two of them were far, far worse than Djokovic has ever been.

I totally agree. I'm not even a Novak fan, but all these things are so inconsequential - Shelton's gestures, Novak's gestures. Who cares They're not killing anyone. It's sports. Shelton is not going to be scarred by Novak's "revenge" gesture.
Exactly.

Yet based on the poll, 26% here think Shelton will win, a lot more than the 14.5% right now who think Medvedev will beat Alcaraz. So the #3 player in the world has significantly less chance of beating #1 than #47 of beating #2 (returning to #1) player and 23-time slam champ? That's TTW for you, folks.
Anyone here still think Shelton had a better chance against Djokovic than Medvedev has against Alcaraz?

Oh, he was eyeballing him a lot and looked like an idiot doing it when he was 2 sets down. What a jackass, should learn something from Alcaraz who has 2 slams at his age.

By the way, did anyone see the ball senior citizen even Djokovic did a double take. Did the US open run out of ball kids or something? Reminded me of Kramer :)
