Will Djokovic finally break the 3 match slam losing streak to Stan or will Wawrinka get his career Djokovic slam of beating the Djoker at all 4 slams.
I love Nostalgia so this one gets me excited!!!

No one knows if Stan has enough in the tank to play 2 days in a row. No one knows how Djok will handle his nerve on grass after taking down the mighty Thompson.

All we do know… is that this will be Off The Chain.

The only advantage that Stan has over the field, when it comes to the encounter with Novak, is the fact that he isn't afraid of him, but the guy is a shadow of himself, with a visibly compromised movement compared to his best days. Not to mention that the grass is his weakest surface where his return is average, at best.
Though Djokovic isn't exactly a player who embraces the net play, so they could still produce some entertaining baseline exchanges, but Stan is in no shape to challenge Djoko anymore.

He’ll give an epic set though.

But yeah any chance of an actual victory was removed when he had to play Etcheverry today. No way he has 3-4 hours of focused high intensity play in him.

Lol what, it's still early in the tournament and he played Etche for only 2.5 hours.

Stan will be ready to go 5 hours again Novak if he has to.

You guys gotta stop trolling man lol

this happened on clay of all places, Stan’s favorite surface, the two players looked like they were moving at completely different speeds and it was barely a match.

Goating Thompson-Wawrinka-Hurkacz-Bublik/Rublev-Sinner-Alcaraz and people say it's easy. This is unreal draw Djoko got. If Djoko gets through all this he is unreal. But against Wawrinka it's gonna be mount everest to climb.

I think Djokovic should start focusing on USO a little bit now and get a head start mentally over everyone.

May as well rename Wimbledon to the Himalayas because Djokovic is going against the highest peaks tennis has ever seen.

Thoughtest draw-Edition 2023

Stan has probably the highest chance to upset Djokovic. This won‘t be easy.

Who knows? Maybe Stan will complete his career with one Wimbledon win? Becoming an ATG?

Strong era confirmed!

Stan scares me more than Carlos.
I understand that. Sometimes there is a certain opponent where it's hard to imagine how it could work against him, regardless of current form. In 2006 when Federer had all those troubles with Nadal I started to have problems to even imagine how it would look like if Federer converts the match point against him and will NOT stand besides him with a silver plate at the ceremony. Then when he beat him at Wimbledon it felt surreal, despite at the same time I thought he simply should beat him at Wimbledon.

Wawrinka at Slams is a nemesis that maybe isn't at the exact same level, but it somehow comes close. I believe Djokovic will win this time, but Wawrinka will have his moments as always.

This is how I see it too. Djokovic is the favourite due to his great form, fitness, wawrinka isn’t at his peak anymore, it’s grass, etc

However, Stan doesn’t fear Djokovic and will believe he can win unlike a lot of other players. He can make Novak doubt himself more than other players and has lots of experience. Stan also matches up well with Novak so I expect a close match and it’s a potential banana skin for Novak if he’s not careful.

Grass is less favourable to Stan though which does help djoko in this tie. We could get an epic match.

People hyping this match as having upset potential are delusional. Stan's movement is declined (and it was never that great even at his peak), his return is weak, and grass doesn't give him time to set up his deadly shots the way he likes. I think this will actually be a blowout in Novak's favour.

Yeah with a OLD Stan who will be limping after Set 1. He has no fitness to play consecutive days Best of 5.

Stan played very good today. Plus, he has the belief and if he can string some shots together, could cause big issues to Novak.

This is not match to be taken lightly at all.

I can understand the fans would be nervous, given the history of peak Stan. To me, peak Stan was a bad matchup for Novak. He could beat Novak more than Fed or Nadal could. I never thought that Fed or Nadal beat Novak at his peak, but Stan did.
I mean Fed IMO cannot beat peak Novak on any surface peak to peak. Where as Nadal can only do so at Clay.

Anyway coming back to Wawrinka - the dude is old and he moves like an octogenarian. Plus the grass nullifies his ability to hit big with long setup time. Novak also has a decisive Serve + return advantage on grass.
Heck, Novak has a serve + ROS advantage on grass vs anyone in the filed right now. So yeah, the match won't be close, despite all the handwringing.
