Not the Czech I would’ve guessed but well done to her. She has a big game. I think Elena played with a lot of pressure today, she was adopted as a crowd favorite and has never gotten through a slam semi before.

It was admirable to see a pusher come to net so many times, but once she got up there the fact that she is a pusher became very evident, and yet, no pusher worth a damn is going to hit 24 unforced errors in 2 sets, so she couldn't even do that well. Turns out literally nothing has changed post-baby and invasion. Same old Svito.

Got a feeling a few rounds ago that Vondrousova could do some damage and threw fitty bucks on her + Alcaraz to win it all. Extremely long shot, but very interesting odds... (nearly 10k win)

So all I can say is... JEDEM!
Oh thank god!

Now time to cash the hell out on my bet because there's no way this pathological pant-pooper is getting that dish...

These are the kinds of nervy matches that probably make Wozniacki think she can still compete.
I mean, she was exactly the same :-D Can't believe just when this Trivalry looked like they were going to make womens tennis great again we get Svitolina AND Wozniacki back in the same year.

Not long now for what many may perhaps say is the moral final of this years Wimbledon. #6 Jabeur v #2 Sabalenka.

Although it could possibly go down that the QF between Jabeur and Rybakina (which was a rematch of last years final) may end up being the moral final of this years Wimbledon.

She's clearly trying to play more aggressively. It didn't work very well in this match, but she's definitely not the same old Svito

She was, although she did manage to (barely) get over the line against an exhausted Halep.
But if she's "in the mix", so to speak, she probably feels she has a chance to choke less than her opponent at some point.

Ons beating Sabalenka is the result tennis needs

But I fear she would totally choke it and fall apart to Marketa in the final lol.
Vondrousova has met Jabeur twice this year alone. Not only did she win both matches but they were both at big tournaments.

Marketa beat Ons in the 2R of the Australian Open winning 6-1 5-7 6-1. Backed it up 2 months later at Indian Wells in the 3R winning 7-6 6-4.

Not very promising!

Tennis needs Sabalenka. She has the potential to win a good number of majors and establish herself at the forefront of the post-Serena era.

Ons is not that kind of player up to this point.

Of course she can. She can be unprofessional anytime she wants to be. Besides that, it's a weak argument. The person on the other side of the net didn't invade her country. They likely are against the war entirely as well - you don't know. That means it's just a political statement, so refuse to play that person if you want to make a stand. That will speak volumes more than just skipping the handshake. She and the others must not be that affected if they are still traveling the world playing tennis and making bank.
Unprofessional? Do you mean unsportsman like? There is nothing unprofessional about it. And "not that affected" because she is still playing on tour? You know that players have friends and family, right?

I have finally figured out why Baseball is my favorite sport. They never shake their opponent's hand or exchange shirts or hug each other. They just walk off the field after they win and they other team turns around and does the same. No one has to pretend they like the other person.
Yes, there are quite a few sports where handshakes aren't the norm. Even in football/soccer, it doesn't always happen, and/or it doesn't always happen between every player on both teams (post match).

Quick personal story: after a pretty touch soccer/football match of my own, a guy from the other team came to shake my hand. He was a bit of a jerk during the game, but I was walking toward him to shake his hand anyway... when just a few steps away he power snots (that's basically blowing your nose with your bare hand) with his shaking hand! He then immediately presented that hand to me, which I refused to shake. He started complaining and getting angry about it, and I just told him he was crazy if he thought I was going to touch his hand after he just blew his nose on it. People are dumb sometimes...

And Voudrousova has sent the entitled Ukrainian packing.
How is Svitolina entitled?

Now this SF better be good. I don't root for one player in particular, Jabeur and Sabalenka both play entertaining tennis to me despite being extremely different.

Ons gave an absolutely flawless performance yesterday that has to be one of the years best when you take the opponent into consideration. It will be interesting to see if she can do anything remotely close today.
