TC ruins tennis coverage. They need to rely on commentators who know when to shut up and let the play speak for itself. I know that I’m not alone in wishing that TAustin, LDavenport and the like would be quiet. Talk during the changeovers. I’m so tired of watching tennis on mute…

Wow, Swiatek won every one of Gauff's second serves in the first set and won 40% of Gauff's first serves. That's just brutal.

Someone pls explain to me how Gauff won 16 matches in a row includint Cincinnati and the US Open consecutively with THIS FH?

It's the most useless shot in the history of most useless shots

Gauff had 4, 4!!! double faults in a row and lost 12 of the last 13 points to lose the match. Luckily, I was rooting for Iga.

Such a strange match.

How do you have the mental fortitude to completely shrug off getting bagel'd the 1st set to play a fantastic 2nd set, and then completely forget how to serve up 15-0, 5-4 in the 2nd.

Golf.

Davenport states, "That's what's most remarkable about Gauff. Swiatek knows it. We know it. The crowd knows it. Gauff is still going to hang around in here." Gauff then loses the next 3 points on her serve and the match. Ouch, Lindsay.

Ouch Lindsay? She had played a fantastic set. You're critcizing an announcer for not being able to predict the future.

Not a really high quality match. Both players first serve is missing. Both just way too many unforced errors. Jabeur is attacking the Vondrousova serves well and doing much better. But just like this whole tournament, it's not pretty.

Jabeur up 6-4 2-0.

Frankly just hideous tennis out there. The wind isn't helping.

Vondrousova broke Jabeur back thanks to a number of terrible errors by Ons that weren't close to going in.

The unforced error count is going to be so high in this one.

Ons has hit 4 in this game alone but manages to get to break point thanks to a Vondrousova double fault and even more bad play.

If you ever have doubts how important the mental aspect is in tennis, watch Coco Gauff up 15-0, 5-4 in the 2nd set.
Guess Brad Gilbert is on vacation? lol

Saw the highlights. Windy, but looked like a pretty bad choke. Coco whiffed on a serve.

Watching TC now. The newest addition to the Tennis Channel, Coco Vandeweghe seems to be doing a good job. Relaxed. Good humor. Certainly offering a new and interesting perspective with her commentary.

WTA final plays at outdoors? the previous finals at Shenzhen, Singapore, Istanbul...all indoors affair, this is really a poorly planned event, let's just hope there won't be any rains, thunderstorms or hurricanes in the coming days.

Gilbert is there, but Pera was fired. (Before this tournament).

Gula and Gauff are out in doubles. 0-5 going back to last year. Yikes!
I think they still have one tiny possibility to qualify but would need everything to go there way!

If they beat Siegemund/Zvonareva in straight sets and Dabrowski/Routliffe beat Krejcikova/Siniakova then it'd be 3 teams locked up on 1 win each and come down to sets and games for that 3 way tie.

Sorry, super boring, I just find the scenario's always fun for the WTF cause crazy things always happen where a player/team that goes 1 win and 2 losses then somehow manages to make the final or win!

not sure it's fired or the contract not renewed, according to some reports, Pera was hired in the summer to fix some technique issues, his role was not the "head" coach, so it could just be his contract was for the remaining of the season and it's not renewed by Gauff.

Talking about Pera and his coaching, he had a really good relationship with Zheng Q. Zheng didn't want to change the coach at all, but Pera had to leave after the clay season due to the contract provision. Apparently there was some performance stipulation in his contract that Zheng needs to reach certain goals (ranking or tournament placements etc), if Zheng failed to reach these goals, his contract would be ended. Zheng had a very poor clay season, so Pera had no choice but to leave, Zheng wasn't happy about it at all, it's her dad's idea to put the clause in the contract and caused the split. She had a lot to say about their recent coaching change, according to her interviews, Wim Fissette was hired by her family because her parents think highly of Fissette and made the contact, but she herself would much prefer staying with Pera.

Pere Riba said in spanish media that he can't travel as much due for family reasons. Coco said it wasn't her choice that he left, so maybe it was too disruptive. She is trying a new play style with that forehand, she is going to backslide some. Plus Iga wanted revenge.

interesting, and I just noticed Riba seems to have lost a lot weight recently, he looks really "gaunt" here!

Gudalajara was outdoors, just 2 years ago

No, not boring at all. Good knowledge. Although I can’t see them beat those 2 other wise old vets in straight. Will definitely tune in tho.

This is where RR really sucks. JPeg has zero to play for tonight, she could get demolished love & love in 18 minutes, wouldn't affect her standing at all.
This is where RR is great. In the other group every player still has a chance to qualify, and even the group winner is up for grasp. :)

Hunter/Mertens go 3-0 in their group and qualify for the SF's.

Barring some huge comeback by Gauff/Pegula needing to win their match and other scenarios to go their way.... Storm Hunter will be the new #1 doubles player in the world.

Easy 375 points for 3 losses. Lessens the blow of losing what would've been 750 points gone from her 3 matches won last year.

Crazy she went 3-0 in her group last year against Jabeur, Sabalenka and Pegula winning all in straights. This year, looks set to go 0-3 and win just one set. And 2 bagels and a breadstick eaten too.
