Andreescu gonna find a way to make it a three setter. That's just what she does (like Murray lately).

EM v BA now. Emma looks great in this kit.
But Bianca looks better.

Very frustrating watching Emma. I keep wondering how she ever managed to win a US Open.
The stars aligned, in so many ways. And it was the very height of WTA randomness at that point.

Andreescu is injury-prone but in terms of flexibility and quickness she is one of the most athletic players ever.

Andreescu is injury-prone but is one of the most athletic players ever, disregarding the injuries.
Her stamina leaves a lot to be desired. She just lost that long rally because she was gassed halfway through it, and gave the next point away as well because she was still out of breath.

Is it me or are Andreescu’s clothes a bit too tight?
Is that even possible?

The constant starting and stopping of her training due to injuries over the years has definitely prevented her from getting her cardio to where it should be at 22 years old.

There really isn't a whole lot of difference between these two.
Watch the rallies. They are like clones.
They're both sponsored by turquoise Nike and have equally penetrating FH's and BH's.
Both are reluctant to hit the drop shot.
Both have a slam in their resume.
Bibi has more variety to her shots.

Personally I'm delighted about the new WTA kit fad.
The move to either shorts or tights.
I hope it lasts. :)
Shorts no, tights yes. If someone wants to circulate a petition to make every player wear what Andreescu is wearing, I'll sign it in a heartbeat.

I dont know I think the story should just be Emma has been playing better lately. There is hope! Even if she losses.
Hope for what? To be a solid top 50? The British media talk about her like she should be mixing it up with Swiatek, Rybakina and Sabalenka. (And Adreescu has been a shell of her former self).

Hmmm hope for improvement! Its better than it has been that's for sure. I dont disagree with your post, but hey Adreescu gave Swiatek a pretty good match last week.

Bianca definitely a bit lucky this match. Two net cords that won her the point, and a few seemingly "back of the line" type shots.

Ok, that's three straight "challenges" now by Raducanu. Not even Ostapenko...

Petition to leave the ATP out of it.
Ha, totally agree. I was going to specify WTA, but I wasn't sure if it was necessary.

It's gone both ways. Before Raducanu broke, she caught the back of the line with an anemic passing shot that Andreescu let go. Plus catching a few other lines in that game.

Yeah fair engouh. And other than having some lucky shots, Bianca's hit a few beautiful drop shots, nice to see some variety every once in a while.

Hopefully Bianca can ride this to a deep run to get her ranking back up so she won't keep dealing with these terrible draws. She's not exactly great on clay or grass, so she needs to capitalize on this tournament, that way she's in better position once the summer hard courts come around.

Sakkari's a terrible 2R opponent, but Bianca can certainly beat her.

The British media is a joke (in all things) and should just be ignored. Proper British tennis fans who understand the sport are usually more realistic when it comes to Raducanu. She's rank 65 and that's about right at the moment. There is potential for more though.

She played well in the 2nd set today but botched it big time at the start of the 3rd when it looked like she was on top. You can get away with that against the likes of Kovinic, but against Andreescu - who should really be a seed once she's back up and running - that can be enough to turn the tide.

Edit - Interesting retirement from Anisimova. Packs up at 6-7 2-5 down against Brengle.

I'm a little sorry to see that match end. I could have watched those court level shots of Andreescu walking around between points all day!

Anisamova so weak. Looks out of shape. Retired at 2-5. Good for Brengle.
She does seem like a total mess at the moment. Mentally fragile, and physically weak too. She was much better physically when she was younger, but now she seems to have grown too much for her fitness to keep up with.

Bibi looks like an athlete with those shorts. And she wins.
I mean, she looks amazing (see my comment above), but not quite the paragon of an athlete. You guys should watch some track and field (or athletics, as it is called in some parts of the world). You will see some truly amazing athletic bodies there.

Yeah, I agree. I think she has top 25 potential, or even top 10 if things really go well and she can improve physically, but I don't see her ever being a #1 or a real star in the WTA.

I think she really ran out of gas in the third set today, and that is why her game dropped off. Endurance shouldn't be a problem for her, but it seems like it is.

I didn't see the match, but does anyone else notice the Muchova seems to be getting stronger
and stronger recently?
Teichmann is no pushover!

Muchova is solid top 10 quality when she is healthy. Also a nice player to watch as well, since her game is so smooth and includes some variety. Theichmann seems to be improving recently, but I don't think she is at that level yet (another super cute player though).

I wouldn't mind seeing Emma in that kit, but to me Bianca's body type is definitely Too Much Information in that kit.
I know we keep saying that taste is subjective, but this is just wild to me. If you think Emma would look better in that, and Andreescu wearing it is "too much information," I just don't know what to say.

Swiatek's withdrawal has really made the no 1 position very precarious. She's had no title win bigger than a 500 for 6 months now (unless I've forgotten something). It feels like the prize is on show now and Sabalenka and Rybakina are in a race for it. Even if Swiatek is back for Stuttgart, she's got nowhere near the same momemtum as last year, and there's far more pressure.

It's justice for Claire Liu though!

That's Xiyu Wang (the lefty), are you mistaking her with Xinyu Wang, the more consistent player? Xiyu Wang aka the lefty one is tall and powerful, but she is too erratic, a lot of times she can't find her range and hit the ball all over the place, watching her is more frustrating than fulfilling. Based on the scoreboard, she must have played really well yesterday. I believe she has recently hired Nigel Sears as her coach, hopefully Sears can help her, since she does have tons of potential and should have a much better result than her current state.

I just had a peek at the other Wang (for the first time).
No I didn't wing the wong number. :)
It was Xiyu who I was thinking of/referring to.
Xiyu is taller and hits more powerful strokes.

It must be my lucky charm. :)
I tuned into Leylah at 1-4 in the 1st.
She immediately stormed back to take the 1st set 6-4.

I mean it is technically correct. But there were only four tournaments during that span ranked higher than 500: WTA finals, AO, Dubai, and Indian Wells. Over those 6 months Swiatek actually got about as many points as Rybakina, with Sabalenka being ahead by like 500 points or so (I think). I do not think anyone expected to have Swiatek (or anyone) another run like in 2022, so whatever she has done recently is quite OK.

Don't forget Guadalajara (sp?) and Dubai.

I get what you're saying though. Never the less, Sabalenka has a 1500pt race lead with Miami points still to come. She's well set here.

you are correct, I fixed my post. race lead is understandable as it counts points since the Jan 1 only, so that is way less than 6 moths

Well, I did mention a difference in body types. I didn't like seeing Serena in tights either. That body type doesn't appeal to me, strictly speaking personally of course.

Andreescu looks more and more like a Kardashian sister every time I see her lol

Rogers v Stephens is so blah. Two uninspiring and baffling players.

Ha ha, TMI is a great way of putting it, that’s what I thought!
That's impossible! Look, I'm not looking to objectify anyone here, but I want all of the "information" on the WTA players that I can get.

I’m glad LF beat the panic attackee.
I wouldn't be so hard on her. What's going on in her country is pretty crazy, so I'm not going to judge.

No offense to Serena, but comparing Andreescu to her (in her later years) is an insult to Andreescu. Apples to oranges.

Nah, she looks way better than them, and she actually has a useful talent, which is sexy.
