After a thrilling battle between Swiatek against Sabalenka in Madrid, the clay season continues in Rome where the conditions are way slower than in Madrid, and therefore should give us a better indication concerning the depth and the state of the field before Roland Garros.

Last year final between Iga and Ons :

The weather forecast doesn't look good at all, lots of rain, could delay some matches or at least make a pretty messy scheduling unfortunately.

In my opinion, given their draws, a third Iga vs Aryna final in a row is on the cards, a long road ahead still.

Is Giorgi playing or not? I like checking the scores on Google, but for some reason it omits matches/players sometimes, and I don't see her there.

Sherif donked off her match.
She's a bluff.
Wow shocked that Sherif lost, I thought she could have been a tricky opponent for Sabalenka.
See above. I realize she played a couple of good matches last week, but I think it was just the stars aligning.

I see that Parks is getting demolished again as well. She's not nearly as good as some people seemed to think after that fluke win.

Some wise sage here on TTW were anointing AParks as the next ATG after a short lucky streak where her serves went in. Most of the times her balls couldn't find the court. Ate a couple of breadsticks today. I sure hope AK can come back, really enjoyed watching her play later part of 2021 when she couldn’t lose.

I still don't think I've seen Parks play.

Yastremksa looks the trickiest floater from the qualies (opinions may differ).

I might give Sasnovich-Fernandez a watch. Pretty much the match of the day on paper.

Wow, they just showed a view of the stands and you're right, it is completely empty. Must feel very strange playing in that environment.
Sometimes they play on an outside court with a 200 people capacity, and lot of times only the teams are there, and
maybe 10 spectators, in those cases it feels like a practice session.

But when some big name like Badosa get a stadium with huge capacity, and it's that empty, gives you an eerie feeling.

Good job Coco. Bagel and breadstick one of most annoying players on tour.
So disappointed but not unexpected Sloane.

Vika ends Sloane’s mini-run.

Bondar beat Karolina too.
Shame, but that's what happens when your ranking drops as low as Sloane's. Presumably she won't be seeded at RG so she best hope to draw some of the weaker seeds in her section of the draw. Even with this result she still has had a lot of match play on the clay so there's hope at least. Vika really riding the wave from winning the doubles in Madrid.

Didn't know Townsend has a 1-1 H2H against Pegula. Latest match was won by Townsend in 2000 AO 6-4,7-6. Match coming soon.
