Dropping that 2nd Set turned out to be a good thing, as winning the breadstick will help confidence.

I agree. I think he’s the favourite to win the title as well. Who would he rather face in final do you think?

He's going to face Djokovic with the entire weight of his country behind him...and he's gonna get smoked. He will regret not tanking the Rune match.

That said, what an amazing performance. I don't like Medvedev at all, so this was fun to see.

Kral jinx stays

Dinner killed Medvedev in the third set with his BTDL... It was like Djokovic 2011

Medvedev has himself to blame though... First serve down the drain and just lacking intensity in the 3rd...
Esp being broken again , that game was abysmal

Sinner by form is the favorite for the title

Sinner has played incredibly well in this tournament. He just might win this. He's figured out Medvedev this year. He's about to go 3-0 in the last 3 matches. Don't be surprised if he ends up winning this h2h.
Sinner is very good at the end of this season, and Medvedev is very inconsistent. Next season everything could change again. I still think Medvedev is stronger than Sinner when they are both in good shape.

As I said after the second set, it was highly unlikely to have a such stark disparity in first serving. Actually I was wrong as the tables were completely turned. Finally more bh down the line, Meddy left it open too often without getting punished.

Excellent analysis by Jannik btw, he pointed out exactly some of the stuff I remarked upon ;)

Medvedev has been good at the end of the season too though. Winning Paris Masters and ATP Finals in 2020 and making both of those finals in 2021. I'm just really impressed with Sinner's improvement as a player right now. In pure ballstriking, he's surpassed Medvedev right now today imo. He's a better returner and his serve has improved. Medvedev still has the better serve but I think Sinner is right there, and may potentially end up being the overall better player.

You still don’t see him reaching #2 in the rankings next year?

Beating Alcaraz and Sinner back-back in the semi and final seems to be a gauntlet that is as challenging as during the days when you had to beat two of the Big 3 back-back to win big titles.

Sinner’s BH is definitely better than Djokovic’s current BH and Novak had a chance only if he quickly changes most points to the FH wing while hitting his FH big. First Djokovic has to beat Alcaraz just to get the chance to try again to beat Sinner. Sweet weekend.

Still doubting Sinner? He will win his first slam in 2024

Potentially? He already has a higher career win percentage at 72% at age 22. Medvedev 71% at age 27. Sinner is definitely going to win over 78% of his matches when he retires

Number 1 if he strengthens his chicken legs, if he improves his first serve, if he improves his slice, if he uses drop shots more frequently, if he goes up to the net to finish the points with the volley.
:D

His first serve has already improved. It’s the legs that has prevented it from being consistent in grueling matches
