2023 Yonex VCores

First hit with the Vcore 100 last night and I am impressed. I was expecting more power out of it but it’s got just the right amount, was consistently hitting close to the baseline. I spent quite a bit of time with the 95 as well and really liked it also but I’m getting old and am trying to make myself use a 100in frame. Lol

Yeah, I had an exoerience like that with Pro Staffs several years ago. Thats one of the reasons Im glad my son doesnt like Blades or Pro Staffs. What did you do with the Blade Pros? Use the heaviest one as the benchmark and weight the others to match? Or maybe settled on the one you liked best and went on a tedious scavenger hunt to find others that matched it?
I ordered directly new from Wilson. So I kept 2 with swing weights around 330 & sent the others back for full refund.

The 100 is a very fun raquet to play with. I thought it had good feel & very comfortable too. Easy spin & depth on shots.

Just reporting in on my used 95 saga. I explained the racquet to my son, who then air swung it and declared “Im gonna try this bi*** today!” And promptly strung it up with the Polytour Fire/Spin hybrid he has been pondering. I figured he would want me to revert it to original state ASAP.

Yet another uodate to the used 95 odyssey;

Well, my kid reported back in after playing with the mysteriously weighted used Vcore 95 ( 338g static, 340 sw, a hair short of 6 pts. HL). Turns out he really liked it, and really liked the Fire/Spin hybrid he strung it up with as well. First words were “finally hitting big aces again.” Also said he was hitting bigger, heavier groundstrokes with less effort, without hitting flyers. And he said no loss of maneuverability or feel, which I find a bit hard to beliieve, but I wasnt playing with it. So getting a pre-weighted used 95 may have been a blessing, even if it was against my will. He is going to play with it a couple more times, and if he still feels this way about it, we will prep for surgery and try to determine where all the added weight is located and how much of it there is so we can replicate it on the other three 95s he has. I personally hate doing customization, but for my kid I’ll suck it up.

Im personally really excited about what I reported above as my kid is a really understated kid who you really have to listen closely to and read between the lines to tell if he is excited about something, and I could tell that he feels the weighted 95 opened doors in his game he had been searching for, which is exciting for any player.

Today is the big day where I get my son’s stock weight 95s matched to the heavy one. The heavy one is by far his favorite racquet ever and he is playing his best tennis with it.

Was going between a vc98 and 95 last year and recently picked up a vc98 tour. Loved the spin and power and feeling psychologically like I had so much string bed to work with. Hoping the tour will be a good compromise between the 98 and 95.
Against better players, returns are a nightmare. This is where the 98 can shine. Some say the 95 feels like a 98 head. Imo, not true. Definitely feels smaller since the 95 requires more rhs, timing becomes more difficult.

I demoed the VC 95 (twice) ha. I liked the soft feel and spin, and the ability to generate a lot of racquet-head speed during the 1st demo. During the 2nd demo I thought it was underpowered and almost too soft. I still might get it and weight it up to 12 ounces. I'm going to try the 98 Tour first though.

Just looking for a poly string and tension recommendation for the 23 vcore 98. I currently have the racquet strung with PSGD @52 lbs and find the racquet lacking in control in comparison to my Galaxy black 2019 vcore 98.

I'm considering Poly Tour Rev at 52lbs. Looking to reign in my shots a bit. My miss is long by a small margin. The string bed is feeling really mushy too. I like a bit more of a crisper feel like on my Galaxy black vcore98.

I'm 4.0ish and know f all about strings.

Any recommendations before I go to my proshop today?

I hit with tour sniper 1.25mm at 53lbs… it was very good feel but it’s all personal. I don’t mind mush though tour sniper is definitely on the crisper side

Mayami Tour Hex @ 23 kg
Something lower Powered works very well IME.

I ended up going with Lynx Tour at 52/50 on the stringers recommendation. He said it's similar to poly tour rev and something about different tensions in the mains and crosses I didn't understand. Could anyone explain that? I think he said because of racquet shape

I think for the most part the 98 can be used quite easily without lead for most players

Was reading through this thread and saw this. That was my impression hitting with it today and the SW on mine is only 314. It may still swing a bit too fast for me, but I am going to keep playing it stock for now. There is plenty of power for sure and it doesn't feel too flimsy, which surprised me. Thought I may be crazy because it was so windy today so it was interesting to read this.

I went back to the heavier Vcore Tour and my timing was a bit better with that one since I am used to it. So im basically not sure what I am going to use more, yet. I think more time on the court and plahying matches should answer the question for me.

Awesome frames, both 98s. The Tour is very special but the regular 98 has a great feel to it as well. Probably my favorite playing sticks in quite some time.

What string and tension are you using? I am thinking firestorm 1.30 at 23kg in my tour ;)

- PH Tennis mentions a new VCore cosmetic coming out around July at 5:23. Think it's going to be another black paint job?
You mean a new paint job of course, not a structural change. It’s very early in the product cycle for a ‘new’ model, but apparently some retailers have seen the ‘new’ VCore; it could also explain the lack of stock availability in some VCore models already, such as 2023 VCore 98+ in 4 1/2, although longbodies aren’t usually part of special midlife releases.
Heard a whisper that beige is an interesting possibility...

Ended up using the vc98 most of the time tonight and served my butt off. Played really well for being rusty. This frame is bone stock with a 314 sw but it plays really great. Going to stay in stock form for now.

Advantages are that I can hit really sharp angles and place my serves in tight spots. Disadvantage so far is my touch shots need more depth compared to the tour version.

I have a 2012 pure drive with a low 317ish sw but it doesn’t feel as substantial as the vcore 98.

So I’m thinking low tension in the 40s plus the lower sw may be a great combo.

Gonna try grapplesnake tour m8 1.30 strung at 55lbs. Hoping to lower launch angle some. Anyone tried this yet?
Try 17gauge head lynx tour at 48-50lbs. It can significantly suppress the launch angle with less bite, but also ensure you can fully swing out.

Guys i'm trying to help a friend of mine in Italy that can't find the grommet for the Vcore 100 2018. Could any other grommets from the newer vcore 100 fit his racquet?
Thanks

each generation of the vCore has some small changes and unfortunately won't be compatible.
