2024-2025 NHL Season

Columbus is still alive. Montreal OTL to Chicago.

Scenario: Columbus (85pts 2GR) needs 2 regulation wins against Philly and NYI. Montreal (89pts 1GR) needs to lose in regulation against Carolina.

It’s shocking that it’s April 15th and CBJ is fighting for the playoffs this late into the season.

Last year they had 67 pts. At worst they made an 18 point improvement.

And obviously the story will revolve around them doing it for Johnny Hockey, but we genuinely have so many young dudes that will be superstars and I say that with full confidence. Marchenko, Fantilli and Johnson will all be stars in this league. Werenski is already a star. Guys like Voronkov and Sillinger and still young but already look like great complimentary pieces. And finally, Jet Greaves. Man. This guy is going to be our starter next season. Forget Elvis and Tarasov, it’s Jet’s time. Only big mistake was not getting Demidov and throwing away 4OA on Lindstrom who looks like he won’t amount to anything already.

I said all year Oettinger is a point of concern. They are a hot/cold team this year. They won 7 in a row before this downturn. This dude judging entire seasons when the playoffs haven't even started but calls others unintelligent. The "hockey savant" clearly doesn't even remember the last Dallas team that was a Cup Finalist lost their last 6 entering the playoffs and had a lot less talent than this team. But that's on brand for a casual sports fan that also tries to gatekeep and never makes any predictions of his own.

Probably one of those fans that roots for losses if it makes him look smarter or more insightful. Hilarious. Your typical Longhorn bandwagon jumper. Most Stars fans are as fairweather as SS, unfortunately. Aren't you also an Eagles football fan? Talk about a bandwagon fan.

Somehow all of your sports teams except the Stars are recent champions - I am sorry the Stars did not reward your fairweather fandom. And I am sorry having the 2nd most wins in the Western Conference and 3rd most points is not good enough for you. And I am also sorry that is somehow my fault.

I can also name players of the past. Doesn't prove anything. Can we expect you to cite Joe Sakic when we see you at Game 1 in your Avalanche sweater? The Columbus Blue Jackets yet again stave off elimination for another night! One more game left for CBJ and MTL.

Scenario is simple. Montreal needs to lose in regulation. Columbus needs to win in regulation. It’s all come down to this.

Two more games to decide the Eastern Playoffs. Habs/Canes tomorrow. Jackets/Islanders Thursday. This is what is comes down to in the East.

The West was just decided. Calgary fought hard but it wasn’t meant to be. Minny barely limps over the line after nearly faltering. They avoid Winnipeg and get Vegas which is honestly harder. St Louis gets Winnipeg. Not sure the Jets are fond of that.

They fought. That March stretch where they cratered basically ended the season. They did as much as they could to get back in. Every night it was verge of elimination and they did everything they could to stay in it.

Montreal doesn’t impress me. They nearly blew an 8 point cushion in April. Horrible hockey by them for the last few games, Washington will annihilate them. CBJ would’ve given the Caps a hard series. Greaves hot hand. Fantilli scoring for fun. Marchenko Werenski star power. But alas it didn’t happen. We have ourselves to blame. Fun while it lasted, Game 82 and they were still fighting for it. Love our guys, won’t trade them for anything. Super excited for next year and the future, these kids are special.
