Alcaraz is fighting for every game.

He knows if Rublev can beat Ruud in straight sets than he still has a chance at the SF's. Even if he does lose this in straights.

Kinda crazy.
Not really. Because if Rublev wins clearly, then Rublev himself will beat Alcaraz in games. And if Rublev just barely wins, then Ruud will stay ahead of Alcaraz. Alcaraz is out now.

Not manifesting it but wanting to remind y'all of a time where a year end championship had two players go 3-0 in the RR stage only to lose in the SF's.

Imagine Zverev and Sinner losing in the SF against their opponents which will likely be Fritz and Ruud.

Wouldn't that be something. Fritz v Ruud for the WTF/YEC ;)

Somehow I feel like it's going to be a two set victory for Zverev. Something like 6-4 7-6.
Even if Alcaraz is close to his best, Zverev is a tough matchup for him. Even moreso on fast hard courts. And Alcaraz didn't look close to his best here yet, while Zverev does, I'd say.
Why are they doing this to me?

Who do you want to win it now?

I'm guessing Zed 2.0 is the perfect player for NoleFam to root for now; excellent serve, served on a bed of consistent aggressive baseline tennis topped with questionable net game and an annoying personality with some anger management issues sprinkled on top :censored::giggle:

He is above Brat now...

Good tennis!

Nah :(

Sinner is. Zverev is 6'6" bot.

Wow man. Zverev wasn't messing around today. He got 79% of his first serves in with 9 aces and only 1 doublefault. He's virtually unplayable when he serves like that. Zverev is playing lights-out tennis now. This reminds me of 2018 when he beat Federer and Djokovic back-to-back in straight sets to bag the title. We now need to see a Zverev/Sinner matchup.

Tennis should be killer next year. You have Sinner and Alcaraz near their peak. Zverev and Fritz are playing the best tennis of their careers. Hopefully, Medvedev can heal that shoulder and win some big matches. And we'll see about this Draper fellow. Oh yeah, and never count out Djokovic. He will have an epic win next year.

Just heard Ruud needs to win minimum 8 games against Rublev to go through. Not sure though if that means Alcaraz has a chance or if it's about Rublev.

Also let's check unreturned.

I think we put too much emphasis on aces and df. Because it's easier to spell. But unreturned is far better thing to see. Fritz was having 30% unreturned vs demon yesterday but 0 aces in first set.

Who do you want to win it now?
Oh I'm hoping Sinner.

I'm not a fan of when a player wins the YEC/WTF but hasn't won a slam that year, it just seems stupid. No disrespect to Coco Gauff this year on the WTA side or Zverev or Tsitsipas in years gone by for the ATP but you can't say you're the best player of the year because you won the year end tournament but you didn't win a single slam that year. It's just silly and mocks the sport in my opinion.

So I hope Sinner goes the full 5-0 for the title.

He is #2 in the world ranked ahead of a player who won 2 slams. He is making at least QF-F almost every tournament he plays. He is at a very good level and translating that form into titles here at the end now.
That doesn't mean he's been getting stronger. He wasn't playing better in the 2nd half of the year than the 1st half.

But who says that? I have yet to see anyone say that unless you can show me examples of players claiming as such.

I'm always amazed how this guy can serve 80% for an entire match while hitting monstrous serves. Crazy that he can't put it together to win a Slam.

Is h2h or games above in the rankings?
If it's a 2 way tie it's based on H2H but if it's a 3 way tie it's based on sets and then games.

So if Rublev wins against Ruud than all 3 guys are on 1 win 2 losses and it goes to sets and games. But if Ruud wins than he goes through as he gets 2 wins while the others stay behind.

@ChrisRF made a good point that no matter what happens game wise, Alcaraz is eliminated because if Rublev wins the match (12 games) he beats Raz on games. If Ruud wins easily then he wins because it's 2-1 in the H2H. So Alcaraz is out no matter what.

Ruud will very much likely be in the SF it appears.

If Ruud wins he has 2 wins so obviously he's trough.

It appears that ge's 90% sure of reaching sf.

Yeah, I actually always find aces quite a useless stat, compared to unreturned. I don't get why they don't change it to be the standard stat instead.
