Fritz down an early break. Navonne as well. Looks like fokina just dumped the first set. What an embarrassment. He needs to undo the manbun and let his brain breathe.

Lots of matches starting up. The Demon has raced out to a set and a break up.

Was hitting with a guy the other weekend that goes to the Open every year. Swears that the first week is the most bang for your buck you can get tennis wise. Thoughts?

Also bad draw for both guys Cazauex (mighty mouse I see it too) and Thomas Martin. One has to lose first round. That's a shame. You could see what it meant to Thomas with his victory roar. Hope it can propell him to great things in Paris.
It was. I mean, it still is, which is why I’m so mad about the ticket pricing. A first/second round grounds pass alone is already getting jacked up to $270 by resellers, it’s ridiculous.

Never seen Mayer (I'm born in 1973). Dont think Etch is lanky at all, looks really fit and ripped actually with a very fluid game. A guy like Ugo Humbert is lanky.

Edit: I actually don’t know who Leo Mayer is. Thought he was some old guy from the ‘70s.
I was a bit confused by your mentioning of your birth year. Here's a vid of Mayer in that ill-fated match against Federer just for reference:

Maybe lanky wasn't really the right term, considering the tour has guys like Med and Zed and Eubanks. But I do feel like he and Etcheverry have similar physiques.

The Gio show has begun. Vs Goffin (who I believed was a permanent resident in Finland at this point). Very winnable match, but David is a clever old weasel.

Hopefully an enjoyable clash of style.

Rune has been so bad lately he could lose to 85 year old Laver at this point. Never doubt Dane Prince's ability to eff things up.

I mean, fair but this a 34 year old Dan Evans who has never made it past a R3 of any big clay tournament in his career and only made it to R2 of RG once. If Rune somehow manages to lose this match, I would re-evaluate your opinion of him lol

[Edit] I lie, he made the SF of MC once! In fact further research and he beat Djokovic there AND Hurkacz? What the heck, why do I have no memory of this?!

Watching Perricard demolish serves and block back his BH like this makes me sad remembering Tsonga. He clearly wanted to use a 1-hander and it plagued him his entire career.
Jo would often go for a one-hander when pushed out wide on that wing.
Sometimes hitting outright winners
jo wilfried tsonga one handed backhand (1)

And Cobolli has SP against the Serbian Crown Prince, Hame Medjedovic
edit : he takes it
Young Jedi making wild gestures and looking to his team. Does not seem to feel the ball and the court at all

Perricard is an absolute baller. Love Goffin, and it's good to see him still out there and playing decently, but a 6'8 20 year old with a one handed backhand, and a fondness for getting inside and displaying his touch? Spectacular. If he comes through this, him and Zverev will be the ultimate hero vs. villain matchup.

I'm glad I've avoided watching Evans all these years. He's about as likeable as finding a cactus under your pillow. Just ewww. I honestly think he'll win this match, Holger is awful.
Your boy looks very jacked today. Been lifting weights instead of practicing?

The new superbrat against one of the very few people on tour who can make him seem like a ray of sunshine by comparison. Hope he destroys that disgruntled hobbit.

I like Dan Evans.
