Just came in and watched the WTA final highlights.
Very happy to see the Hsieh team win another title. :)
I think Mertens is feeling more and more at home playing with Hsieh.

The two split a check for almost 1/2 $Mil. !

Meanwhile... Hsieh, at 38, is still trying to make her comeback in singles. She's playing in Miami qualies today against #81 Minnen.

Crazy how she's dominant she's been in doubles after over a year off. Shows how much of a mind game doubles is vs. just being physical.

I wouldn't call it a mind game.

Rather, I would call it a strategy game.
If you watch her wizardly carefully you'll see her full arsenal of tactics which include
plenty of off-pace shots (which opponents often over-hit), crazy angles, low net clearance shots,
moon balls, often waiting to hit the ball until the very last moment, poaching expert etc. etc.

And of course her nerves of steel also come in handy. :)

I was going to write strategy, but it's definitely a brain game of intelligence.

I just watched the highlights and saw that storm hunter was the worst player on court. I think siniakova was better off w krejcikova. Not sure why they split before the Olympics.

Hsieh now holds 3 of the 4 slams, all w different partners. She said she doesn't remember the last time she's restrung her racquets, but they start around 48 lbs. She's one of a kind.

And that fabulous wrist-flick net shot of hers, on the run! That's a thing of beauty.

Just heard in his interview that Koolhof is retiring after this year. Guess he wants to go out on top like Barty. I'm bummed bc he's one of my favorites.
