Sinner is more powerful because all players today are more powerful. Even Djokovic today has beefed up his forehand. Medvedev has beefed up his game. It happens.

Djokovic was never having this much power as Sinner easily but he was still very powerful.
I find early or 2011 Djokovic to be quite powerfull but yeah probably not Sinner level.

I was joking there. I believe Sinner will be better player than Djokovic on day conditions. But obviously Djokovic is better and have many other plusses.

Sinner needs to win 10+ HC slam to be in conversation with Djokovic. But to his plus he is more powerfull specially compared to later versions of 2011 Novak and i think he is better at day and doesn't struggle like Djokovic.
Very hard to compare just for day conditions. Djokovic has a great record against Big4 at the sunshine double and most of those were day matches.

Comparing Sinner to Djokovi, in 2011 is just silly. Sinner would have stoped at the AO semis in that 41 match streak, and then be beaten repeatedly by Federer and Nadal in subsequent tournaments.

Being powerful is only one aspect of the game.

It all depend on your competition and also but how much strong he is. Tbh it's early but i don't believe Alcaraz or Sinner to reach 20 slams. But in their best conditions they can be one of the best.
It's long way and you need to be consistent healthy etc.
USO seems to be the most open slam, so let's see what will happen.

Maybe someone will defend it for a change LOL.

37 year old Djokovic won’t win any slams this year. Sinner will win his second GS title this year - the question is where? Wimbledon? Or USO?

Med can still remain in the top 5 by being consistent. But he seems to have traded a higher level for this consistency because he seems to be the underdog against every top player he plays.
He had to improve on his return due to his poor serve. This seems to work better against other players.

..except an all-court game. How many times did he get to net today? I like carrot a lot, but no hagiography, please.
He does not need to just like Nole didn't need to post 2011.
When you are at your best physically, and have such a consistent and repeatable game, there is little incentive to come to the net.
I don't know why he needs ALL COURT game at age 22. He can develop that when he is 30.

It's amazing how much Sinner improved his movement. I rarely watch but i feel he really improved. I always thought he is good player with good mentality.
What do you Sinner fans think @dking68 I think it's even more important than his Serve on the long run. People rarely improves their speed, movement.

Not just lack of all-court gams. He only has one way of playing in general. In today’s game that is mostly enough because of the lack of variety for players, but Carlos has showed that he can trouble Sinner that way.

If other younger players can present more all court games, Sinner will have to adapt in that sense. I would like Rune to be one of the all court menaces in the future (great transition game, great movement and can take the ball earlier than anyone), but he seems to have gone off a very weird path…

That would mean approaching Fed/Connors/Pete numbers there. Highly unlikely.

I also feel Alcaraz to be potentially break or catch the USO record. Especially against older guys you need to take longevity account. They will have more chances.
It looks like great matches are ahead at USO.

Still a long way to go especially if Carlos/Sinner will have great longevity. Nobody thought Fed wouldn't win another USO after 2008.

Carlos has shown he loves to showboat. He was number 1 and 2 slams ahead of sinner by Wimby 2023. Sinner has recorded 3 wins in a row vs him and if they played in atp finals, would be 4 in a row.

@Baseline_Bungle I see you in here, did you happen to watch the match? What happened out there?
Just utter demolition. Serve and return were fire, was overpowering him in the long rallies which are usually Med's bread and butter, and as the confidence grew he just started toying with him, finishing points at the net, calling him in to the net then passing him, etc.

Med looked dazed and defeated after 3 games, gesturing aimlessly to his box, saying stuff like "what should I do?", "you think it's easy!", "why don't you try playing this guy?". The strong start set the stage, and the Russian quickly lost his belief - and his game.

Yeah, Federer should have won 1 or 2 more considering his success there. Quite surprising and one of the reasons he fell short at slams.
I don't think impossible to specially win 5. Nadal was close to win and for me he would have won 5 slam in one decade(+2020) despite playing with 2 HC goat same era.
I know you need to have a lot talent to be come close to Nadal(as he is one of the best at USO) i'm saying it's not impossible.

Carlos is 2 years younger and has many more tools. He will take time to figure out how to maximize his potential just like Sinner did.

Still, he has a better career by far at the moment and has shown to have tools to deal with the matchup problem.

Ofcourse. Carlos beat him just last week. But the tide has turned.
There are many holes in Carlos's game that are exploitable.

There may be holes in Sinner's game but right now they are not exploitable, maybe on clay but even that I am doubting. Let's see what he does after winning Miami.

Carlos won’t defeat Sinner after the clay court season I think.
No need to be afraid of Carlos on clay yet. Sinner can beat him. But i also think Carlos can beat him especially at slams specially Wimbledon. Don't underestimate tiny at Wimbledon. He crushed everyone before final last year.

Oh, man. That was quick. Expected Med to put up more of a fight. I'll have to watch the highlights. Scoreline reads like a good, old-fashioned, whooping.

Sinner has improved alot more than Carlos. I think he’ll beat him on every surface this year
