G.O.A.T.
Beginning on Monday 15th July, this clay court tournament (warm up for the Olympics) sees the much anticipated return of Rafa Nadal to the tour, where he has also entered the doubles, partnered with Ruud. Sinner has pulled out and Rublev is the defending champ.

Seeds:
1. Andrey Rublev
2. Casper Ruud
3. Tallon Griekspoor
4. Mariano Navone
5. Cameron Norrie
6. Roman Safiullin
7. Nuno Borges
8. Pavel Koto

WC’s awarded to Rafa, Elias Ymer and Leo Borg.

PS Yes Rafa should be in the poll. He’s the King of Clay - no brainer.

Leo Borg, LMAO you couldn't make this sh** up.

It's up there with Nadal "drawing" a wildcard ranked outside the Top 1000 in Madrid

What ?? what is this,, ? i thought the dude retired,,, they gave him a send off ceremony and everything at the french open...............

Except they didn’t.
What planet do you live on?
but this Norrie 1st round match is a raw deal. Norrie is playing great right now and he will likely make Rafa look bad. Norries is GREAT clay court player to add,, He destroyed Alcarez in the final before..... just be ware

Dodging the point and Norrie hasn’t been great for a while now.
Anyway, you stick to your planet…

This event has won the ATP tournament of the year award for it's category, 12 times in the 21st century, including last year.

It's no surprise as the players love it, and it's also party central. Plus year this it's a useful tune-up for the Olympics.

I haven't even heard of it till last week

Rafa and Ruud first match on tomorrow in doubles...1:30 Swedish time

Norrie plays later so I assume Nadal-Borg will be Tuesday

Realistically Norrie should take Rafa out. Wont stop me from watching every point tho

If we losing to Norrie, I don’t have much hope for the Olympics and I seriously doubt Rafa would even bother if the situation is that bad. Even a Navone QF loss would be disappointing. Expecting a much better Rafa (although I was very satisfied with his level at RG) and a SF appearance at the least.

looks like rain and wind about to start for a while with a clear window opening up about an hour and a half later....we'll see...doubles match supposed to start in 40 minutes...just hope Tennis Channel covers it (they're in Gstaad now)...no, I don't/won't get TC+

It'd be nice to see top players nearing (or at) their singles "retirement" to play doubles post their singles retirement.
have thought the same thing too...there's no doubt the Big3/4 could have won grand slam doubles titles if they had tried and had the right partner

how is rafa doing?
They won 6-1, 6-4 and looked really comfortable with each other. Rafa looking pretty good showing lots of touch at the net, and clean groundstrokes. Great on returns too. His serve let him down in one game but maybe something to do with the rain which decided to turn up at the time.
The opponents targeted Casper a LOT keeping the ball away from Rafa who showed early on that he would hit a winning shot if he got to the ball.
Mentioned Carlos winning WB in his speech afterwards.
