Ugo Humbert humbles Carlos Alcaraz! Happiness in Paris.

Bercy, may you never change...even if you change your location.

You just doomed him by tapping him to take the title. Never put him in there...

Besides, Zed will have his work cut out against his nemesis, Stef. No idea when that h2h started to tilt so heavily in Stef's favor.
Can't wait for the battle of complains, looking forward to it.

Three French players lost today, but it seems like French tennis is in great hands, for the first time in a long time. Allez les Bleus!

Not to mention Gaston and the group of vets still lingering around.

Alcaraz obscene in the first set and therefore only this fact increases his responsibility for the defeat, but at the same time I feel like breaking a lance in his favor by saying that it is not known how Humbert managed to win the third and decisive set, or rather , he had to work miracles to stay attached to the set without giving up serve. In particular, in the game that gave him the 6-5, the Frenchman invented two sensational passers on recoveries after two short balls and a second serve at 15-30 served as a first serve.

On the other hand, before suffering the break and losing the match, Alcaraz had played a third set bordering on perfection. I don't have precise data but Alcaraz made his first unforced error in the third set in the last game, where he conceded two. For the rest, when Humbert started the exchange to make a point he had to invent amazing things otherwise it would be impossible for him to undermine the Spaniard's defense. In the third set for me we saw one of the most solid versions of Alcaraz, but ironically it wasn't enough for him to win it.

Great match!

This. Although everyone is tired at the end of the year, I honestly think the indoor conditions coupled with the great attendance has produced some excellent tennis over the years, even with all the upsets. People always point to the Sock steal, but the Rune run and the Khachanov sweep were both fun. Vaguely remember some good stuff in 2009, 2019 and 2020, too.

Hopefully, that won't change in the new arena.

He's had a poor season by his standard outside of the French Open and Wimbledon. A little look in the mirror might be in order for him.

Humbert did play well in that 3rd set so credit to him.

His standard is still being defined. He's only played three full seasons (?) on Tour.

However, with this defeat of Alcaraz the chances that Zverev could overtake the Spaniard in the rankings and therefore be seeded number 2 at the ATP Finals also increase, therefore the possibility that Sinner and Alcaraz could end up in the same group.

As a Sinner fan I wouldn't mind seeing even 2 challenges between him and Alcaraz in Turin, even if honestly I'm somewhat skeptical that on the surface of Turin the most formidable opponent for the Italian should be considered the Spaniard.

So, it seems Dimitrov will easily reach the final (as he did last year) from the lower half.
The upper half will be much more interesting…

Yah man. Disappointed for Carlitos, that he's been unable to find the required momentum. He was candid in the post match interview with ATP yesterday in that he clearly does not like this super fast court. That said, the kid played some superb tennis in this strange match, and the final set was well contested. Hope he's okay and can focus on the WTF.
The moment belongs to Ugo - well played. He took full advantage of his chances in the 1st set, and maintained his resolve in the 3rd, breaking for the win. The crowd was no doubt an inspiration too.

Left door push for Draper. Congratz for my man De Minaur with superfan in his box.
Heh,heh, congrats to you too. ADM's confidence is back after his awful injury, and whilst I am not a fan of his game, like the chap and the graft he puts in. Seems an unassuming, decent bloke. JD outplayed when it mattered, looking cooked as the match went on.
Solid two last sets from Holger.....
True man - solid. Good to see HR retaining his focus / belief and getting through. Hope its a good contest in the qf.

Watching Grigor, willing him on, but Rinderknech has been impressive too -some superb hitting to get to the 3rd set tb.
What a win by the skin of his teeth for GD, who fought AR and the crowd to get it done. Good stuff.

Hopefully some well contested matches in the qf's.

For sure but we're talking about an ATG here and he lost to a lot of lower level guys in big tournaments moreso than in years past, well last year really. I think he regressed a bit.

It's hard to say, has he regressed or have players started to figure out his game?
