In almost 20 matches so far this year, Nadal hasn't shown the level to look like a top 5 threat, not even on his beloved mud. It's likely he plays his best match of the year, yet if Djokovic handles the pressure he should just handle Nadal easily still

Why are so many saying no pressure on Nadal? If he beats Djokovic, it means his comeback is complete and he becomes one of the top 2-3 contenders to win another gold medal on his favorite PC court. His career will be back on track if he does well at these Olympics.

So are Djokofans so frightened they are trying to pull the underdog with world number 160 who hasnt barely played the atp tour for almost two years???

This is reaching a new level

I feel if Nadal wins it's cause Djokovic collapses and either Zverev will beat him and I'll have to beat the **** out of my wall again or Alcaraz will obliterate him.

If Alcaraz loses to Nadal then it's just pathetic fanboyism gone too far on Alcaraz side.

The schedule is ridiculous. If they had to play tomorrow, they could as well start at the evening, leaving at least 24hr to recover. Other R2 matches are even scheduled for Tuesday.

Ahhh mate, anything you can do to cancel things tomorrow? We'll provide score updates just in case.

I wish I could, but its work related, made a few other people commit to something because I wanted Tuesday to be free, too late to change it now. I'm going to try to get a stream if I can, but yeah, I will keep tabs on the scores and read here for the play by play.

Thanks. So it'll be in the heat? I'm so torn about this. Will the day, warm conditions help Djokovic or Nadal? Even after 18 years of career, I have never been able to say what conditions Djokovic prefers on clay. On hard courts there is no debate, he prefers Night Sessions... But on clay? I will never forget that 2013 match played in extreme heat, Djokovic delivered his best clay match ever against peak Nadal. Then he beat him in straight sets in 2015... in a day match (ok Nadal wasn't in his best form, but still...) 2021 was partly in day conditions too. Hard to forget how awful he was in 2020 and 2022 under the roof and in night sessions on the other hand. Now I don't even know what to think. Nadal's top spin isn't what it used to be in these hot&dry conditions. Djokovic's serve should be more efficient if it's faster. But then I worry about how he can handle the heat. He was struggling against Musetti and Ruud in Monte-Carlo in much cooler conditions. Then he folded like a cheap tent in Rome against Tabilo under the heat. It'll be very very warm tomorrow. I hope he is ready to play 3 hours if necessary. If he can't handle the heat, he will lose even against this Nadal.

I think the match is going to suck, 2 guys past their peaks and in no great form. I think Djokovic probably wins 6-4,6-3 or something like that

Whoever wins this match has a legit chance to win a medal, I must say.

R3 was supposed to be Fils, but he just lost
QF is supposed to be Tsitsipas, who got breadsticked by Bergs and barely won in the end. Seems doable for Djokovic or Nadal (if Tsitsipas even gets there)

Semifinals (meaning 75% of chances of medal) don't seem too far-fetched for the winner.

Djokodal!!!! Nadalovic!!!!

Either way, Lets Go!!!!

Hopefully Nadal keeps it competitive. I have my concerns that he won't but I'm just happy to see one last match with these two.

Neither are beating Zverev in SF though. As for 3rd place well those tend to be
50/50 matches and strange affairs.

Lets go Rafa! Please don't over exaggerate as saying X would be lucky to win few games.
Everyone knows the situation no need to exaggarate the trolling then don't celebrate in case your favourite wins. While not favourite, Rafa has a chance here.

Nadal’s only chance is to hit risky and big with forehand down the line every chance he gets early in the rallies and hope Djoko gets nervous. The first set today was the best he has hit all year, but it didn’t even faze Fucsovics at all Because every player now knows he just have to hang in there and he’s going to give you opportunities.

Nadal has the opportunity to quite literally end Novak's career, especially if he goes on to retire in the next round and then win doubles gold with Carlos.
There's no way Novak recovers from such a blow.
