O/U 6.5 games?

2,1 and 3,0 does that.

The real question is whether Jasmine will get more than 3 games the whole match. Especially on Gia’s favorite tournament where she doesn’t want to leave anything to chance so she’ll be even more ruthless.

I would take the under.

I can't forsee any result other than Iga winning 2 sets easily with Paolini possibly being inspired enough to win one close set. It doesn't look good for Paolini however as she lost both the matches she's played against Iga 2-6,1-6 and 3-6,0-6.

maybe Paolini will pull off a rare double duty, winning both singles and doubles title, last achieved by krejcikova in 2021, also in Roland Garros.

There is some Polish in Paolini too. Her mother is half Polish - half from Ghana.
Jasmine's Polish is actually quite good, there were a couple of interviews she gave in her mother's tongue to the Polish media. All those summers spent in Łódź in her granny's polishing her Polish lol

Even predicting a 6-4 6-4 to Iga feels like overreaching for Paolini.

Sometimes Swiatek overplays when her opponent is getting a very consistent ball back, and Paolini is capable of that, but this is the French Open Final. Got to factor in nerves and all that stuff.

I'll be surprised if Paolini wins a set. If she wins 2 sets - without Swiatek needing the trainer at any point - it will probably be one of the biggest upsets in a final we've ever seen.

I hope we get a similar outcome to the RG final of 2023 where Muchova made it very interesting. I don't think Paolini has the variety of Muchova and I think that is something that other than bludgeoning power which can at least make things trickier for Swiatek to command proceedings on the clay.

I still can't quite believe that Swiatek v Osaka in R2 was probably match of the tournament on the women's side and arguably top 2-3 tournament wide when you consider that people had hoped for the big name R2 contest but absolutely no one predicted Osaka would be such a handful for Swiatek and nearly beat her. When you combine the thrill and drama of that match I think it's seriously boosted this tournament at least in my opinion. It was also great we got Sinner v Alcaraz on the men's side.

Completely lopsided poll (unsurprisingly).

I think Iga is going to eat up Paolini's weak serve, won't really need to do much.

Last time we had a bagel in a slam final was back at the 2017 US Open final between Sloane and Keys. Sloane won that one 6-3 6-0.

Funnily enough, the previous slam before that at Wimbledon 2017 also had a bagel. Muguruza beat Venus 7-5 6-0.

Prior to that it was the 2014 Wimbledon tournament where Kvitova smoked Bouchard 6-3 6-0. That year also had another bagel in a final, Li Na beat Cibulkova 7-6 6-0.

Man, Sloane v. Keys in 2017, what world was that?
A ****ed up year for the WTA. That USO was insane and then let's not even talk about that French Open with #3 Halep leading 6-4 3-0 in the final against a nobody Ostapenko who comes from nowhere to win the whole thing.

Just an odd year.

Paolini might get 4 games. That’s all I’m watching for. I’m so tired of these mugs in Slam finals though. What’s the point of anyone tuning into watch Iga vs some overmatched bum. Not growing the game at all. How do you market something like this. After the Gauff debacle on Thursday this is one of the worst RGs ever.

According to Mark, Arak, Kantenklaar and others, this is good for the sport! Much popularity, should be celebrated! Andreeva v Paolini SF instead of Rybakina v Sabalenka was exciting and supposedly would generate more discussion. And this final? So juicy instead of Swiatek v Sabalenka or Rybakina.

Funnily enough haven't seen much of those posters since that post.

Yeah i'm still salty.

Cause i'm bored waiting for this final, just looking at stats for least games won in slam finals.

We've had a number of slam finals the last 20 years that have had only 3 games.

2017 US Open - Sloane d Keys - 6-3 6-0
2014 Wimbledon - Kvitova d Bouchard - 6-3 6-0
2012 Aus Open - Azarenka d Sharapova - 6-3 6-0
2010 US Open - Clisters d Zvonareva - 6-2 6-1
2008 Aus Open - Serena d Safina - 6-0 6-3
2007 French Open - Henin d Ivanovic - 6-1 6-2
2007 Aus Open - Serena d Sharapova - 6-1 6-2

It's not since the 2005 French Open final that we've had just 2 games in a slam final, that was where Henin beat Mary Pierce 6-1 6-1.

I'm not including the 2006 Aus Open which featured a retirement when Henin beat Mauresmo 6-1 2-0.

So, should Swiatek lose just 2 games, it'll be the most dominant slam final since the 2005 French final.

If she loses just 1 game it'll be the most dominant final since the infamous Graf v Zverev double bagel at the 1988 French final. There's been no slam final with just one game one since the 1975 Wimbledon final where BJK beat Goolagong 6-0 6-1.
