Good. This can be said to be the last time Medvedev will face Sinner with a favorable h2h. It will never happen again. The time has come to definitively close that circle that began in the Beijing 2023 final when it was 0-6. I predict a challenge very unbalanced towards Sinner like the last one at the US Open or the Miami SF (even if not so clear). With the service that the Russian is currently having, it is difficult to give him more than a 20% chance of generating the upset.

Sinner in 2. He is on a hard court winning streak against Med and it doesn't look like it will stop here.

Medvedev needs to get a massage with some of that special Italian miracle cream, and then he might take a set. Otherwise Clostebolini in 2.

The H2H I believe is 7-6 in Medvedev's favor, if he loses this match, he will finally lose his lead over Sinner in H2H, something he had since the first match. It was 6-0 at one point, it is 7-6 now.

Nauseating to heat the commentators discredit Med's Wimbledon win citing Sinner's physical issues especially when they aren't giving the same reasoning to the AO final Med loss.

For now an even more crushing massacre than the Miami sf. When Sinner is centered on a hard surface it is borderline unplayable.

It still shocks me that so few people apparently are following this match.

Probably a combo of:
- time zone (mainly for the US viewers - it's mid-morning for me in UK but still not optimal given it's a working day...)
- waning interest in the Masters on this forum / maybe the tour more generally (Big 3 fanatics less active and polluting the boards)
- a sense of inevitability around the outcome of this match. Sinner is stomping all over Med at the moment
- ...and maybe something to do with Sinner / Med not being the most charismatic players on tour - although they each have their share of supporters

That's pretty much on point.

I always lose interest when Sinner's cruising through matches, it's actually the opposite with Alcaraz for me. Love it when Raz is on. And get super bored when Sinner dominates.

Unless Nole can keep his level up, there's only really one big match that everyone wants to see. Although Medvedev is always going to be an important test.

Medvedev is being bullied all around the court.
He needs to play 500s and 250s if he wants to lift a trophy this year; Alcaraz & Sinner aren't gonna let him win the big ones.

Wow ... Djokovic has 0 chance against Sinner or Alcaraz...

get used to them, cos every slam for the next 20 years will be shared between those 2 .... probably 90% in favour of Alcaraz...

The Sinner V Medvedev and the explosive turn around in the H2H reminds me of what Federer did. Federer was 0-3 vs Agassi, 0-5 vs Nalbandian, 2-7, against Hewitt and 1-6 against Henman, and then proceeded to absolutely demolish them. This match and overall this last year has seemed like a back alley gang fight, but Medvedev forgot to bring his gang.

Med is pretty damn charismatic though. So much so that I can even tolerate the most boring brand of tennis he brings to the court.

There's also a scent of 2017 here, when Federer won all matches against Nadal who ended at #1. Alcaraz beats Sinner everywhere, yet Sinner is #1.
Too bad they mostly meet in semis, but you may beg to differ ;)

Did everyone notice Sinner has easier time against Med than against many other players not just Raz and Novak. Zverev, Rublev, Shelton...Med completely lost the blueprint of how to play against Sinner. I wonder what homework he and his coach are doing

A bit of 2017, not fully. Federer won more big titles in 2017 than Nadal, that, so far is not the case with Sinner and Alcaraz in 2024, Sinner has won more.

It's not true, this year Sinner has shown that only one player suffers, Alcaraz, with all the others he makes fun of them. The two matches with Rublev between Montreal and Cincinnati are relevant up to a certain point, Sinner was physically in pieces. In Melbourne we saw the real difference between the 2. With Zverev, however, the German's luck is that after US Open 2023 when Sinner started this escalation he could have met him many of those times but he always stopped one match away from doing so (Beijing 2023, Vienna 2023, Turin 2023, Melbourne 2024, Indian Wells 2024, Miami 2024, Halle 2024) otherwise there would have been pain and even the h2h between the two would have been reversed. So he has no problems with anyone except Alcaraz, he simply raises the level immediately with Medvedev and for this reason it seems that he could suffer more with an Etcheverry or a Shelton, but it's only appearance.

But indeed Danils serve has regressed a lot the last 2 years. Takes away a lot of his gameplan (hold serve with rather ease and fight and run on every point of the return games, wearing opponent out mentally and physically)

The reason why I think today's victory was even more crushing than Miami's semi-final regardless of the 5 games conceded today compared to Miami's 4 is in the progress. Today Medvedev suffered in all rounds of service except 2, while on Sinner's serve before the last game the Italian had only conceded 7 points(!!!!!!) in 7 games. In Miami there were many more uncertain games decided in favor of Sinner, especially at the beginning of the match.
Sinner is ready to win his third Masters 1000 of the season, let's see if Alcaraz will show up for the event or, as on other occasions, he will fail.
