Here are the players who beat Alcaraz this season (I don't consider Monteiro);

Zverev
Jarry
Dimitrov
Rublev
Draper
Djokovic
Monfils
VdZ
Machac
And here is Sinner record this season against the same players;

Zverev 1-0
Jarry 1-0
Dimitrov 2-0
Rublev 2-1
Draper 1-0
Djokovic 1-0
Monfils 1-0
VdZ 2-0
Machac 1-0

Total 12-1
Obviously this is a flawed comparison when you don't post Alcarazs total record against the same players and not just whether or not he has lost to them.

It wasn't a comparison aimed at demonstrating that Alcaraz can't beat those opponents (with some like Zverev, Monfils also has a positive seasonal h2h, with others like Djokovic or Machac he has it equal), don't always be so sensitive, not to say touchy. The intent is to note that against the opponents who beat Alcaraz this year (and there are 9 different players) Sinner 2024 practically never loses. Now let's see yet another demonstration given that between the semi-final and eventual final here in Sanghai he could always meet two opponents who defeated Alcaraz this year.

Yah man. Disappointed for Carlitos that he could not get through but what a couple of matches by Tomas! Yesterday against Tommy and today against Carlitos. I've been keeping an eye on TM since the Davis Cup match with Carlitos, when he also played superbly in the 1st set.

Word. Kid continues on that learning curve. Good to see him to continue to pay well, but the required improvements will, I hope, be addressed.

True, man. Been interested in Mensik's game for a while and hoping he'll keep improving. Recently, Machac too. Lehecka plays well too.
Machac is a very dangerous player on HCs and he is very young too, definitely a lot of potential. I look forward to his match with Sinner!

Alcaraz is 21 years old, he is still very inconsistent. He will probably never have the robotic consistency of Sinner, but he will improve. I will take Carlos with all his brilliance and unpredictability, it makes for a more engaging experience. He still won the two most prestigious slams this year (Channel Slam is no easy task, much less for a 21 year old kid).

I knew Carlos would lose once he saw Sinner dispatch Medvedev like he did. Moving forward its tactically smart, why surrender the mental advantage he holds over Sinner for bigger events when they meet.

Alcaraz doesnt need to play Sinner again so soon after Beijing. Let Sinner simmer about that loss. Not saying Carlos tanked today, but i doubt he was fully invested in it tbh

This is because Sinner is more like a machine, whereas Alcaraz is more like an artist. Alcaraz is more unstable and prone to upsets, but he can also produce greater tennis heights when inspired, whereas Sinner is your meat and potatoes champion who can replicate results more easily, unless challenged by the artist.

The thing is he didn't do what he did against Monfils at Cinci -- which is play horrendously. He played well enough to beat Machac and was in the latter's service games all the time except for the fact that he lost his brains every single time a BP appeared.

In fact Carlos was cruising in his service games and suffocating the opponent in the return games yet ended up being soundly beaten. He needs to get over his BP jitters.
He did say his game was more like Federer's.

With this Alky loss we should correctly consider H2H Sinny Alky 3-1 this year since Alky kinda ran away from the Sinneraz match.

You're blind if you think Machac is mediocre.
Yah man. Tomas is a very good player, and sent off both Tommy and Carlitos. When on, he's a dangerous opponent. It isn't so much that some are blind to the facts but perhaps an agenda to show Carlitos as inept. That said, Carlitos failed to convert his chances and in that regard, could be said to have 'allowed' Tomas to get the better of him.

He did say his game was more like Federer's.
Heh,heh. This made me smile in the context of shanked bp chances. Hoping Carlitos can learn from the example of Federer, but perhaps overlook this particular one.

...................Only Father Time is unbeatable.
Unbeatable. in conjunction with Destiny. Fascinating how, in any area of life / sport, people sometimes reach the threshold but cannot pass through the door. Those fans / onlookers courting certainty will likely be disappointed. Adding to the 'if' / 'could have' / 'should have' type comments, and use them to propel yet more perceived certainty led musings. Good fun, sometimes irritating!

Not really. What big tournaments has he won?

Players not from smaller tennis countries have to actually earn their way into the big tournaments. They don't just get wildcards handed to them.

Czechia is bigger than some, but Machac has been qualifying for majors since 2020. He went 5 against Fritz in his first main draw appearance. Then of course the COVID year wrecked a lot of things for everyone.
