Well, I gotta admit, I didn't think he was going to fight back in this one.

Credit to him, he always talks about enduring and "suffering" on the court, good sign that mentally he's willing to do that again.

Still way off, but his form is getting better. Into another clay final he goes...

Nadal is epic AF :D

No offence Ajdukovic but you can't beat a 38-year old dude who played 4h the day before and can only play moonballs you should retire. That was a pathetic display.

Why do so many players have a mentality of a 4-year old girl? Like the first little sign of resistence and he fumbled like a kid.

It remarkable how Nadal continues to surprise us. He been not playing deep in tournaments for nearly 2 years, he’s 38 and as we know many injuries. However, he’s seems the fittest he’s ever been since 2022. If he can improve form a bit more than maybe can still be a factor and a threat to the top guys. It’s a big ask but he’s not giving up. He’s an inspiration to many young guys out there. Respect!

Knew you would be negative lol

The guy is a qualifier, who I understand had only won 5 pro matches at tournament level. Nadal is old now, yes, but it is still a big step up for a guy who basically has next to zero experience in tournament play.

Are you expecting Nadal to lose every single match he plays? Your statement would be more valid for the Tsitispas, Zverev, Rune, Musetti, Ruud, Rublev, level of players more, not qualifiers.

38-years old, played 4h match yesterday. The dude is ranked around top 100 and you still can't keep up?

I don't even have to watch this match to know that he's netting every 3rd ball without having ANY pressure to deal with other than Nadal's name.

I don't even care about Nadal, he's doing what he's supposed to. I'm angry with these absolute gen z mugs who sh it their pants with any resistence.

Exactly, and I'm sure if Ajdu works on his serve he would be a nightmare opponent for anyone. His strokes are sooo powerful.

lol you don't care about Ajduko in the slightest... you're just angry Nadal won a relatively meaningless match... calm down dude

Erm, he still ways to go. Currently he is definitely slower than 2022 and that is affecting his return. He should get a bit leaner also if possible

He doesn't have any big match experience. That was the biggest match of his entire life, and he is playing an absolute legend of the game. That is a lot to take in mentally also.

He didn't play that bad to be fair, there was some nice quality there, yes, some poor decision making at times, but he gave Nadal a match.

You're being a little too hard on the guy.

He just lacks experience on the main stage, that is the main thing.

Imagine having only won five matches in tournament play in your whole career and then you are facing Nadal, even this old diminished Nadal is a massive step up from losing qualifiers.

That's the difference between a shmug like this guy and good players. When they get a chance to shine they try their absolute best to win and this dude is stumbling on his own legs.

And no, I'm not being too hard on him. If this was 2012 Nadal I wouldn't say a word if he got double bageled. But this really is a perfect opportunity to make a name for yourself and the lowest cost possible and you still find a way to fu ck it up?

Well not everyone can be that good, most are barely making a living.

Even if he is miles away from his heyday, Nadal remains a really tough player to beat on clay relatively speaking, especially for a guy outside of the top 100. Even Zverev struggled somehow against this Nadal, despite not dropping sets against him in Paris it wasn't that straightforward.

Flashscore has 21 winners and 8 UEs for Ned today and 33 winners and 19 UEs for Adjukovic. Implies it was not bad considering the court seems ridiculously slow from the highlights I saw yesterday

Nadal still has the shot making and the feel in general, it is his movement more than anything. But if he is in place to hit a good ball, he can still hit a very good ball.

Glad Nadal won and that it wasn't another 4 hour grindfest. Excited for the final.

Doubles match later on, hopefully that doesn't tire out Nadal for the singles final tomorrow.

The fact is, Ajdukovic has one of the best backhands in the world, and the players who make Nadal work the hardest are those with the best backhands, so the Final will be easier.
“I think it was a tough match. My opponent had one of the best backhands that I played against,” said Nadal in his on-court interview. “He came here with a lot of confidence. I think I was trying to push him back. It was very, very difficult, honestly, but I found a way to survive and be through to that final after a long time without being in a final. So that’s great news and I’m very happy with that.”

Bstaad weather tomorrow...

"Strong storms tomorrow. Storms may produce large hail and strong winds."

some rain on Monday too...this tournament may be running into some problems...players need to go to Paris and other tournaments...some tournaments haven't finished over the years...we'll see

damn, wanted to see him go for his 12th doubles title

wonder how many people know that off the top of their head

p.s. Ruud hanging around for days after his singles loss...released from prison, he can head to Paris
Yes, it's true.

But that is what friends are for!

A shout out for Casper!

The weather forecasts I’ve looked say warm and cloudy but no rain until the evening. A bit windy though.
